2012 Best Halloween Costume Winners

Best Halloween Costume 2012 Grassy Knoll Institute
For 2012, the Dark Zone has more than one winner for the best Halloween costume. Every year I travel to many trade shows and conventions and of course the Halloween themed ones are the most fun. I snapped this photo at the January 2012 Halloween show inside the George R. Brown convention center in Houston, Texas.

I have to give props to these models as their job is far more difficult than it looks. These women must stay in costume for 8 hours a day usually changing costumes several times a day. Notice the shoes they are wearing. Imagine standing in those puppies all day. The Dark Zone salutes you.

PS: Click the photo twice to enlarge to read what the sign says the blonde is holding.

Happy Halloween 2012

Zombie Fortress - Floating Zombie Barge

When Zombies Attack
As I have stated before, it is never to early to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse. A vital part of surviving the horde of zombies is securing a Zombie Fortress impregnable to the horde. This intriguing design is named The Zombie Barge. The barge is self contained with different cargo on each ship. The barge can sustain a small amount of people for many weeks before coming ashore for more supplies.

The barge has electricity, both solar and water turbine, fresh vegetables grown on the barge, chickens, cows, and plenty of fish. The barge has living quarters, work area, storage, Jeeps, weapons, medical supplies, everything you need to survive.

The beauty of the floating barge is its mobility. The barge can move up and down a river, say, the Mississippi river to avoid zombies from collecting at the shore waiting for the barge.

There is plenty of room on the Ohio river. Should I begin constructing my own barge or are there design flaws in this fortress? Let me know in the comments.

Usually Bad Luck To Cross A Black Cats Path

Halloween Tip #3: The Black Cat Superstition:
Don't always believe the old Halloween urban legends and wives tales that black cats are bad luck. As superstition goes, black cats are bad luck if you see a stray one. It's even worse luck if a black cat crosses your path. People to this day alter their own course to avoid a black cat. Perhaps the worrisome feelings stem fro the black cat being linked to the occult and witchcraft.

The Dark Zone advises: If you happen upon the scene pictured above, dive right in.

Trick Or Treat Psycho Style

*Sound Effect: Door knocking*
Children At Door: "Trick or treat. Smell my feet. Give us something good to eat!"
Voice Behind Door: "Mother, children are at our door again? What should I do?"
Female Voice Behind Door: "I'm in the shower. Answer the door and smile at them Norman. Invite them in for some candy."
That puts a smile on Norman's face every time.

Tin Man Gets A Beating Heart

Anita Heart
Sadly, the Tin Man couldn't take the chance that the Wizard Of Oz wouldn't grant his wish and bestow upon him a beating heart. Instead, Tinny took matters into his own hands and hacked out the heart of his fiance, Anita Heart.

When a man's an empty kettle,
He should be on his mettle,
And yet I'm torn apart.
Just because I'm presumin'
That I could be kind-a-human,
If I only had a heart.
