Lost In The Twilight Zone Update - Finale

Lost In The Twilight Zone Update 04/27/2010

There is no new Lost episode tonight offering the perfect opportunity to publish my final ABC Lost / Twilight Zone correlation update. The ABC Lost finale airs Sunday evening May 23rd.

Some Background Before We Proceed:

The Twilight Zone was a classic science fiction television series created by Rod Serling that aired from 1959 to 1964. Each episode intertwined the supernatural with topical moral events in today’s society ending with a twist convoluting the outcome. I argue that the same can be said about ABC Lost. The castaways are more than just stranded on an island. There are mysterious forces at work of powers unknown. And just like the Twilight Zone, a twist is inserted in the story convoluting the outcome.

The Twilight Zone had a standard format. Each episode began with a prologue, usually with the host, Rod Serling doing the voice over introducing the characters and setting. At the end of the show, Serling would offer up a final narration of what the viewer just witnessed.

Tonight's format will be different than previous updates. Instead of intensely comparing a single Twilight Zone episode to Lost, we will lightly review seven episodes. Instead of a lengthy comparison of all seven episodes, I will leave judgment in the hands of the viewers only pointing out the obvious.

Tonight's Offerings Are:
The Odyssey Of Flight 33 - Original Airdate - 2/24/21961
Shadow Play - Original Airdate - 05/05/1961
It's A Good Life - Original Airdate - 11/03/1961
Queen Of The Nile - Original Airdate - 03/06/1964
Stopover In A Quiet Town - Original Airdate - 04/24/1964
Little Girl Lost - Original Airdate - 03/16/1962
The Bewitching Pool - Original Airdate - 06/19/1964

Once you see the similarities of both programs, you will quickly realize that Lost is a modern-day Twilight Zone.

The Odyssey Of Flight 33

Monologue:

You're riding on a jet airliner en route from London to New York. You're at 35,000 feet atop an overcast and roughly fifty-five minutes from Idlewild Airport. But what you've seen occur inside the cockpit of this plane is no reflection on the aircraft or the crew. It's a safe, well-engineered, perfectly designed machine, and the men you've just met are a trained, cool, highly efficient team. The problem is simply that the plane is going too fast and there is nothing within the realm of knowledge or at least logic to explain it. Unbeknownst to passengers and crew, this aeroplane is heading into an uncharted region well off the beaten track of commercial travelers. It's moving into the Twilight Zone. What you're about to see we call The Odyssey of Flight 33.

Synopsis:

Global Airlines flight 33, typical flight from London to New York. An hour into the flight the Captain and crew notices the plane is acting strange. Its picking up speed and they cannot stop it. They fly into some sort of barrier and are thrown back in time. They spot dinosaurs on the ground that confirms their belief. The captain attempts to repeat the incredible speed increase in hopes of returning to the present. The captain succeeds but finds they didn't travel far enough and find themselves looking down over the 1939 New York Worlds Fair. Being low on fuel, the captain informs crew and passengers that he is going to attempt one more time to reach home and for everyone to remain as calm as possible.

Epilogue:

A Global jet airliner, en route from London to New York on an uneventful afternoon in the year 1961, but now reported overdue and missing, and by now searched for on land, sea, and air by anguished human beings fearful of what they'll find. But you and I know where she is, you and I know what's happened. So if some moment, any moment, you hear the sound of jet engines flying atop the overcast, engines that sound searching and lost, engines that sound desperate, shoot up a flare or do something. That would be Global 33 trying to get home — from the Twilight Zone.

Lost Tie-In:

Lost began, or perhaps ended on a fateful plane ride. We all know what happened. The plane crashed, bizarre events happened to them, including time travel and so far just like in the Twilight Zone, they are still searching for home.

Shadow Play

Monologue:

Adam Grant, a nondescript kind of man found guilty of murder and sentenced to the electric chair. Like every other criminal caught in the wheels of justice he's scared, right down to the marrow of his bones. But it isn't prison that scares him, the long, silent nights of waiting, the slow walk to the little room, or even death itself. It's something else that holds Adam Grant in the hot, sweaty grip of fear, something worse than any punishment this world has to offer, something found only in the Twilight Zone.

Synopsis:

Adam Grant was a man convicted of murder who tries to convince the judge and jury that he is living a nightmare, that everything around him is just an illusion that keeps repeating over and over. He states that the judge, attorneys, and jury are merely players in his dream. The judge asks why he is so concerned of dying if its only a dream and Grant says because since having this nightmare, he hasn't been able to get any sleep because he always wakes up screaming. He tells his attorney to go home and what he originally thought was for dinner will be something else. What Grant said is true, and the attorneys friends discuss the matter and perhaps get a stay of execution on the lines of insanity. Alas, the call to the governor arrives to late and Adam Grant is electrocuted. The next day, the same events occur once again, Grant in court going through the same motions, except the characters have assumed different roles.

Epilogue:

We know that a dream can be real, but whoever thought that reality could be a dream? We exist, of course, but how, in what way? As we believe, as flesh-and-blood human beings, or are we simply parts of someone's feverish, complicated nightmare? Think about it, and then ask yourself, do you live here, in this country, in this world, or do you live instead in the Twilight Zone?

Lost Tie-In:

This connects to my virtual reality theory precisely. Men and women in a captured audience, going through the motions of an execution hearing. One man (Desmond) realizes that everything is an illusion and tries to convince the rest of the people (Castaways) the same. Grant is not completely successful and the pattern repeats itself yet again in hopes that finally someone will come to his aid and rescue him from this nightmare.

Sound like Desmond!!! Desmond is living this nightmare. He now realizes that it is some sort of dream, an illusion, or virtual reality, and he sets off to help not only himself, but the other castaways to help them all wake up from the same shared nightmare.

Its A Good Life

Monologue:

Tonight's story on The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize, is a map of the United States, and there's a little town there called Peaksville. On a given morning not too long ago, the rest of the world disappeared and Peaksville was left all alone. Its inhabitants were never sure whether the world was destroyed and only Peaksville left untouched or whether the village had somehow been taken away. They were, on the other hand, sure of one thing: the cause. A monster had arrived in the village. Just by using his mind, he took away the automobiles, the electricity, the machines - because they displeased him - and he moved an entire community back into the dark ages - just by using his mind. Now I'd like to introduce you to some of the people in Peaksville, Ohio. This is Mr. Fremont. It's in his farmhouse that the monster resides. This is Mrs. Fremont. And this is Aunt Amy, who probably had more control over the monster in the beginning than almost anyone. But one day she forgot. She began to sing aloud. Now, the monster doesn't like singing, so his mind snapped at her, turned her into the smiling, vacant thing you're looking at now. She sings no more. And you'll note that the people in Peaksville, Ohio, have to smile. They have to think happy thoughts and say happy things because once displeased, the monster can wish them into a cornfield or change them into a grotesque, walking horror. This particular monster can read minds, you see. He knows every thought, he can feel every emotion. Oh yes, I did forget something, didn't I? I forgot to introduce you to the monster. This is the monster. His name is Anthony Fremont. He's six years old, with a cute little-boy face and blue, guileless eyes. But when those eyes look at you, you'd better start thinking happy thoughts, because the mind behind them is absolutely in charge. This is the Twilight Zone.

Synopsis:

A 6-year-old boy named Anthony normal looking in every way, but looks are deceiving. Anthony is a monster with supernatural powers. Whatever he wishes, happens. All he has to do is think of something and it happens. The townsfolk walk on egg shells in hopes of not angering Anthony. They don't know if he destroyed the state of Ohio or the entire world. Anthony made cars go away, makes the townsfolk live without electricity and television programs. He controls the weather and even what supplies can be found at the local grocery and supply store.

The townsfolk are frightened of Anthony and keep telling him that he is good because if Anthony is displeased, he will wish that person away to the cornfield never to be seen again. Anthony hears a dog barking, and he doesn't like, and sends the dog to the cornfield.

Life continues like this for some time until a birthday party where Dan, who is drunk, can't take Anthony anymore and stands up to him. He calls Anthony a monster and tells the other adults to stand up and kill Anthony from behind. No one acts. Dan is sent to the cornfield.

Because Anthony is angry at what has happened, he makes it snow outside. His father tells Anthony that the snow will kill off half the crops. But as the adults look on, worried smiles on their faces, his father smiles and tells Anthony in a horror-tinged voice, but it's a real good thing you did Anthony. A real good thing. And tomorrow.... tomorrow's gonna be a... real good day!"

Epilogue:

No comment here, no comment at all. We only wanted to introduce you to one of our very special citizens, little Anthony Fremont, age 6, who lives in a village called Peaksville in a place that used to be Ohio. And if by some strange chance you should run across him, you had best think only good thoughts. Anything less than that is handled at your own risk, because if you do meet Anthony you can be sure of one thing: you have entered the Twilight Zone.

Lost Tie-In:

Ok, everyone sees that the Smoke Monster is Anthony. Old Smoky has supernatural powers just like Anthony. he has his people frightened to death just like Anthony. Anyone that displeases Smoky, gets destroyed, sort of like getting sent to the cornfield. People rise up and revolt against Smoky, only to get destroyed.

The Lost island, an island that cannot be seen and is in unknown waters, sounds a lot like Peaksville, Ohio. Only Peaksville exists to the townsfolks. There is nothing beyond the city limits.

I hope you are beginning to see the similarities of Lost and the Twilight Zone and how the writers used these scenario's to write and feed off for their show.

Queen Of The Nile

Monologue:

Jordan Herrick, syndicated columnist whose work appears in more than a hundred newspapers. By nature a cynic, a disbeliever, caught for the moment by a lovely vision. He knows the vision he's seen is no dream; she is Pamela Morris, renowned movie star, whose name is a household word and whose face is known to millions. What Mr. Herrick does not know is that he has also just looked into the face--of the Twilight Zone.

Synopsis:

Noted cynic columnist Jordan Herick prepares to interview the famous actress Pamela Morris known for her extreme beauty and vitality. Many ask her what her secret to staying young is. The interview takes place at the home of Pamela Morris. Jordan meets an old woman and assumes it is Pamela's mother. The old woman speaks up and claims she is the daughter of Pamela. Jordan thinks the old woman is senile.

Pamela comes down and Jordan sees her and falls in love with her. During the interview which turns into flirtatious conversation, where Pamela reveals her dark secret. She produces a small Egyptian scarab beetle. She claims it has the power to drain the life force from other people and transfer the life force to herself enabling her to stay young and healthy forever.

Jordan finds this ridiculous but wonders why she told him this information. He suddenly realizes that he has been poisoned and attempts to escape but to no avail. He falls dead in the house. Pamela uses the scarab to suck the life force from Jordan reducing Jordan to a pile of dust.

The episode ends with another young columnist arriving to interview Pamela, starting the cycle once again. It is implied that Pamela is actually Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, and that she has been existing this way for centuries.

Epilogue:

Everybody knows Pamela Morris, the beautiful and eternally young movie star. Or does she have another name, even more famous, an Egyptian name from centuries past? It's best not to be too curious, lest you wind up like Jordan Herrick, a pile of dust and old clothing, discarded in the endless eternity of the Twilight Zone.

Lost Tie-In:

In this episode, we have the Egyptian mysticism that is so prevalent on Lost. And a woman who doesn't age that goes by another more famous name, Cleopatra. Richard Alpert from Lost doesn't age. And if you take the initials from his first and last name, RA, you get the Egyptian Sun God, Ra. Coincidence, we think not.

Stopover In A Quiet Town

Monologue:

Bob and Millie Frasier: average young New Yorkers who had attended a party in the country last night, and on the way home, took a detour. Most of us, on waking in the morning, know exactly where we are; the rooster or the alarm clock brings us out of sleep into the familiar sights, sounds, aromas of home and the comfort of a routine day ahead. Not so with our young friends. This will be a day like none they've ever spent, and they'll spend it in the Twilight Zone.

Synopsis:

A married couple wake up in a strange house. They only remember that they both drank too much at a party the night before. On the way home, a large shadow had appeared over their car and followed them. As they explore the house, they find its fake, cabinets glued, the appliances mere props, sort of like a doll house. All of a sudden they hear a child's laugh. They go to explore and find the town is all fake as well, right down to the trees on the lawn. They are the only people in town.

The couple become nervous and begin questioning where they are and thinks that perhaps they are in Hell dying in a car crash the night before. Just then they hear a train whistle and rush to the train station thinking they finally found a way out of the town. Smiling, they board the train and are relieved when the train starts moving and heading out-of-town. After a few minutes the train comes to a stop and they realize it went in a circle and they are back where they started.

Rejected, they leave the train and head back into town and are pursued by the large shadow that followed them into town and again they hear the child laugh. Its revealed that the shadow is a giant alien child who abducted the couple from Earth to be pets.

Epilogue:

The moral of what you've just seen is clear: if you drink, don't drive. And if your wife has had a couple, she shouldn't drive, either. You might both just wake up with a whale of a headache, in a deserted village, in the Twilight Zone.

Lost Tie-In:

This episode introduces the alien influence to the castaways of Lost. The child is playing with them, putting them in multiple scenario's at her whim. They appear to be in control, but they are not. They are trapped in the virtual reality lab.

When the couple tried to escape, they failed, just as the castaways have attempted to escape the island. They always wound up back on the island where they began.

And the twist, as I have been stating for six years, is the introduction of the aliens at the very end of the series, pulling the strings, running the show.

Little Girl Lost

Monologue:

Missing: one frightened little girl. Name: Bettina Miller. Description: Six years of age, average height and build, light brown hair, quite pretty. Last seen being tucked into bed by her mother a few hours ago. Last heard--aye, there's the rub, as Hamlet put it. For Bettina Miller can be heard quite clearly, despite the rather curious fact that she can't be seen at all. Present location? Let's say for the moment--in the Twilight Zone.

Synopsis:

A couple, Chris and Ruth, are awoken by the distant whimpering of their little girl, Tina. The couple get up to investigate when they hear their dog barking. They find Tina's bed empty but they can hear her crying. The parents look everywhere for Tina but can't find her.

The father can hear Tina crying and her voice has a strange echo sound to it. He tells his wife that although they can hear Tina, she is no longer with them. All the while the dog is barking wildly in the back yard. The father calls his friend who happens to be a physicist to help find Tina. He lets him in the house and the dog follows. The dog (Vincent) runs to Tina's room and under the bed. In an instant, they dog is gone as well but can still hear it barking.

The physicist examines the ball behind the bed and discovers a portal to another dimension. A dimension that sometimes runs parallel together with their own. They plan on using the dog to guide Tina back to the portal and to safety but it doesn't work. The father then leans into the portal and falls into the other dimension. He lands hard and he sees a bizarre place, quite unlike his own, where things are turning upside down and inside out at the same time.

The father sees the dog and Tina and tries to guide them back to where the portal is. He is afraid to move an inch in fear of not finding the portal again. He hears the physicist tell him to hurry up. Finally, after a tense few minutes, he grabs Tina and the dog and is pulled back to the other side.

The physicist explains that he was telling the father to hurry because the portal was closing in on him and he was actually between dimensions and if he would have stayed a few more seconds, he would have been caught in both dimensions.

Epilogue:

The other half where? The fourth dimension? The fifth? Perhaps. They never found the answer. Despite a battery of research physicists equipped with every device known to man, electronic and otherwise, no result was ever achieved, except perhaps a little more respect for and uncertainty about the mechanisms of the Twilight Zone.

Lost Tie-In:

Another dimension, a portal to another place. That is right up the Lost castaways alley. The Lost crew has been tossed through time and space countless times ending up who knows where.

About the father in between dimensions. This depicts Desmond. He is living in both dimensions, this is how he can see what is happening in the other time lines and seems to know what is happening in the future.

The Bewitching Pool

Monologue:

A swimming pool not unlike any other pool, a structure built of tile and cement and money, a backyard toy for the affluent, wet entertainment for the well-to-do. But to Jeb and Sport Sharewood, this pool holds mysteries not dreamed of by the building contractor, not guaranteed in any sales brochure. For this pool has a secret exit that leads to a never-neverland, a place designed for junior citizens who need a long voyage away from reality, into the bottomless regions of the Twilight Zone.

Introduction to a perfect setting: Colonial mansion, spacious grounds, heated swimming Pool, all the luxuries money can buy. Introduction to two children, brother and sister: names: Jeb and Sport, healthy, happy, normal youngsters. Introduction to a mother: Gloria Sharewood by name, glamorous by nature. Introduction to a father: Gil Sharewood, handsome, prosperous, the picture of success, a man who has achieved every man's ambition: beautiful children, beautiful home, beautiful wife. Idyllic? Obviously. But don't look too carefully; don't peek behind the facade. The ideal may have feet of clay.

Synopsis:

Sport Sharewood and her brother Jeb live in a big, expensive house, but their mother is cold, insensitive and self-centered; their father is kinder, but still a distant and preoccupied businessman.

While Sport and Jeb are sitting by the pool, a young boy that looked like Huckleberry Finn pops up from the deep end of the pool and invites them to follow him. Scout and Jeb do indeed follow him diving underwater. When they surface, they find themselves in a simple rustic homestead. They see kids swimming. laughing, having fun, and playing. It is the complete opposite of their real home life. It is considered the ultimate paradise, where the children are always loved.

A woman appears, calls herself Aunt T, and explains that there are many children whose parents don't deserve them. But soon, sport and Jeb return home to find their parents didn't even notice they were gone and are divorcing. They race back to the pool, dive in, and escape back to Aunt T and the other children.

Epilogue:

A brief epilogue for concerned parents. Of course, there isn't any such place as the gingerbread house of Aunt T, and we grownups know there's no door at the bottom of a swimming pool that leads to a secret place. But who can say how real the fantasy world of lonely children can become? For Jeb and Sport Sharewood, the need for love turned fantasy into reality; they found a secret place - in the Twilight Zone.

Lost Tie-In:

This was the Twilight Zone's final episode. It wasn't planned as the last episode, so there was no build up to a finale as there is with Lost. However, it is an excellent episode to end with.

The pool is an analogy of then island. The escape hatch is the hatch on the island, or perhaps the secret portal Ben uses to travel to and from the island as well through time and space. When the children do escape, they find an idealic scenario, exactly what children want. Laughing, playing, games, fun all day, candy. Almost as if someone read their minds and constructed a perfect play ground for them.

As we first witnessed the others in their cabins and huts living peaceful, with book clubs, cooking brownies, and tossing the football around, the citizens were at peace. When they returned to the real world, they found that they didn't really fit in there anymore and longed to return back to their island. Just as Sport and Jeb did.

Submitted for your approval. A Lost theory formulated six years ago before most of the cast of characters were introduced. A theory that slowly unfolded revealing more and more of its whole as if a puzzle were being pieced together. As season six comes to an end, my theory is laid out in all its glory, in full view, for all to see.

The sign post up ahead, the next stop.....

Laura Vandervoort They Will Not Control Us
Ever notice that in every science fiction space movie, the women, be they good or evil aliens, are super sexy. Case in point is Laura Vandervoort, who plays Lisa, one of the evil space aliens on the Sci-Fi television program V airing on the ABC Network right after Lost.

Laura has been in several other Sc-Fi genre films including playing the starring role in Smallville as Supergirl. She is also currently in the remake of Riverworld, the place you go to when you die. But that's not all. Ms. Vandervoort also played Tina in Mutant X and Sheena on the Goosebumps series. We'll add the Dresden Files to round out her Sci-Fi career. Very impressive for a young talented actress.

Lost Update: Wondrous Boat Ride

Lost Update - Season Six - 04/20/2010

Round the world and home again
That's the sailor's way
Faster faster, faster faster

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a hurricane a-blowing

Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing

Yes, the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing

The song above is titled, Wondrous Boat Ride and can be heard in the episode preview for tonight's program. The song is from the movie, Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. And this is significant folks. One particular line in the song, (There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going) touches on exactly what is happening to the island castaways and sums up my Lost theory.

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been waiting six years to tell you…..
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated, the Aliens of course.

So it finally comes down to this. Willy Wonka! I was waiting for the Oompa Loompa's to throw down a song about why its bad to leave the island. Alas, no Oompa's break dancing but tonight's episode still had a Wonka feel to it.

Case in point, the lyrics focus on the boat ride the guests took with Wonka. Wonka started chanting strange lines, (Read the lyrics at the top of the post again) and a key line was "There's no earthly way of knowing which direction we are going." As in, is Sawyer and the renegade gang going in the right direction? Should they have left the Smoky group? Should they have allowed Claire on board? Should Sawyer have let Jack jump off the boat? All good questions, all with answers to follow.

But enough with Willy and his chocolate factory for now. We need to focus on Jack, Sawyer, and Sayid. Some very significant things happened to them tonight. Jack was broken, Sawyer was a leader, and Sayid reverted back to the good side.

Waaaaayyyyy back in season one, Jack was the hero, the leader, the man with the plan, the man everyone listened to. A man that wanted nothing more than to get the Hell off the island. Tonight, Jack was a broken man, a man taking orders from Hurley, and from Sawyer. Jack became a follower. And his point of view was a complete 180. He believed he was supposed to stay on the island. Notice how he didn't argue with Sawyer on the boat, and just jumped off the boat into the water?

Some of you are asking So what? Let me explain. As my theory states, the castaways are being experimented on. Jack was the Alpha male in the beginning. After being exposed to a variety of stimuli, Jack became docile, let me say, domesticated. That was Jack's test. What would it take to break him? He is now pliable, open to suggestion. Ready to accept his fate. Whatever it may be.

Next is Sawyer. If you remember, he was a loner, out for himself. Tonight, he was the man with the plan and instead of staking out on his own, he brought the group along to safety. He tells Jack on the boat, you're either with us, or against us. Us being the key word. He was part of the group. Sawyer also did a complete 180 in personality. He was given the means to achieve and do the right thing, and he took it.

Sayid is last. Sayid was the good guy with the Iraqi past. He was always helping, fixing, protecting. Tonight, he is soul less. He made a pact with the devil, sold his soul, for a promise to be with Nadia, the love of his life. A promise that will never be fulfilled. Remember, dead is dead. And Nadia is dead. However, Sayid pulled a 360 tonight. First he was good, then bad, than good again as he lied to Smoky and I'm betting he did not kill Desmond.

All three men have been manipulated to the extreme. All three have felt love, hatred, heartache, and lost the love of their life. All three men traveled the psychological spectrum in approximately 115 days of living on the island. These three men, as all the other castaways, are being tested, manipulated, molded into different people. For what purpose is yet an unknown. To save the world? Perhaps! Or perhaps a more sinister ending. Like the one I have foreseen. (I sound like the Emperor on Star Ward now) I have foreseen it. It is your destiny.)

One last point and then we'll get to the tidbits. The castaways are once again reunited. Jack states that we're all different now. Sort of like a reset to a video game. Changing the skill level, the players, the parameters. Perhaps this is the final level of the game and its time to use what you have learned to win. And sometimes, the only way to win the game, is not to play.

Tidbits From Tonight's Show:

* Smoky admits he took the form of Christian Shepard. Can you believe him? Yea, I sort of do.
* In the side flash, Sun recognized Locke as both were being wheeled in to emergency.
* Claire tells Jack that he already decided to go with Smoky the moment he allowed him to talk. Like it or not, you're with him now.
* Sounds like Satan doesn't it? There's your shout out to all the religion theory folks.
* After the bomb goes off, Smoky says, well, here we go. He is ready for battle as Zoe demands Desmond be released.
* Desmond is at it again in the side flash. This time helping Claire and Ilana. And perhaps Jack as well. Could be the new Jacob huh?
* I thought Claire was going to shoot Kate at the boat. I really did. However, she will get hers later. They all will. Oops!
* In the side flash, Jin tells Sun its OK, we're all going to be fine now.
* Jin and Sun reunited. Touching moment. But it won't last long.
* Zoe captures the Sawyer gang, tells him the deal is off, and they are prisoners.
* Jack swims to the island. Meets Smoky. Nice day for a swim. Bomb explodes. Jack is knocked down. Smoky carries him to safety. Tells Jack, don't worry, you're with me now.
* Jack ready to operate on Locke in the side flash. So Desmond wasn't crazy after all. Jack will heal Locke.

May 23rd is just over a month away for the series finale. What a hell of a boat ride its been. And after six years of episodes and speculation, Willy Wonka stays true to his words when he sings,
There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing

Until next week. Get Lost.

Unknown Thought Screen Helmet Wearer

Thought Screen Helmet Unknown Abductee
Hi, my name is Bobby Smith and I've been an alien abductee in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area since 1996. For over 10 years I have been abducted by aliens 17 times. In late 2006 while surfing the Internet for alien abductions, I came across the Grassy Knoll Institute, the utmost authority on alien abductions. I learned about the Thought screen Helmet and how it prevented alien abductions by severing the telepathic link the aliens had over me.

In no time at all I was able to construct my own Thought Screen Helmet lined with velostat, a material that has electrical properties that cancels telepathic rays. Ever since I've been wearing my (TSH) I have not been abducted by aliens.

Thank you Grassy Knoll Institute for giving me my life back. I am now a productive member of society again. I can maintain my job and I have found romance once again. Hopefully all the other unknown alien abductee's can share in my success story and return to living a meaningful life in society.

Lost Update - Thunder Only Happens When It Is Raining

Lost Update - Season Six - 04/06/2010

Now here I go again, I see, the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
It's only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and...
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness...
Like a heartbeat drives you mad...
In the stillness of remembering
What you had
And what you lost...
What you had...
Ooh, what you lost

Tonight we finally got to see Desmond's sideways flash. He meets up with Charles Widmore, his both and business partner, Charlie, who he is keeping safe until a concert is performed, Claire, at the airport, Jack, in the hospital, Hurley, at the airport, Faraday, Eloise, and Penny. Desmond has a perfect job, power, money, influence, and the respect of Charles Widmore. So much so that he shares a drink of 60 year of MacCutcheon scotch. The trouble is, none of its real. And just like Desmond, I've been going round and round with my theory for six years.

In Desmond's sideways flash, he had a fantastic life. He was rich, respected, traveled the world, all the perks of wealth, with no emotional ties. He was Widmore's right hand man, his go to man, and even shared that elusive scotch.

However, Desmond has been thrust into yet another psychological experiment. This time around, he has been given everything in life. Except the one thing he truly wanted. Penny's love. Desmond's constant. Without Penny, Desmond was a ship without an anchor, listing off the shore, waiting to dock. When he meets Penny in this new scenario, he is truly happy.

Stay with me, for just a little bit longer. I stated several years ago that Desmond became aware of the time loop he was in. Of all the different scenario's he was placed in. Saving Charlies life countless times, pushing the button, being with Penny, and waking up and doing it all over again. No matter how he tried to change the course of events, it always ended the same way. Desmond knew this after saving charlie from death countless times. What happens, happened.

The question is why is Desmond and all the other castaways being put through these scenario's? I told you before. The one's doing the experiments and resting liken us to cattle, primates, less evolved. It's aliens manipulating them in a vast virtual reality laboratory. The best way to harvest accurate test results is to have the subjects unaware of outside influence.

I'll add one more bit of information before we get to the tidbits of tonight's episode. When Desmond was talking to Daniel, (Faraday - Widmore) Daniel told him that he had a dream, and while dreaming, he wrote a scientific equation in his notebook. Desmond asked him what it meant but Daniel had no idea. He took it to a friend on campus and was told it was formula's of quantum mechanics so advanced, a person would have to have studied for years just to begin to understand it.

Again, and I'll only state this 6 more times this year, it's alien technology that Daniel was somehow able to extract during one of his many virtual reality scenario's. It's part of how they are all controlled, how they can experience time travel while not really going anywhere. How the castaways are cast into multiple scenario's. How the castaways can have varying personalities. How the castaways choose good over evil, or evil over good. Even life and death itself. Over and over. Until they are finished with them. Until the island is finished with them. Until the aliens have collected enough data and are satisfied with said results.

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:

* Desmond to Charlie: There's always a choice.

* Daniel is Widmore's son.

* Eloise tells Desmond to just stop looking. Perhaps that is how Desmond will end his loop. By simply stopping.

* Daniel tells Desmond, what if we had some other life and we're not supposed to be living this one.

* Daniel believes he may have already detonated the nuclear bomb.

* No smoke monster tonight.

* Desmond and Charlie drowning, Charlies shows his hand to Desmond with Not Penny's Boat written on it. Just like in past scenario.

* Drive Shaft song. You All Everybody is playing on radio.

*Widmore chances Desmond's life with risky experiment. Desmond survives.

* Sayid kills Widmore's men, tells Zoe to run and tells Desmond that they are very bad men. Desmond seems to know, and goes along with Sayid.

* Penny, while in the stadium, if you look closely, has a wardrobe malfunction and a nipple slip occurs as she is running down the stadium stairs. (No, not really. Just hoping it was so)

* Charlie, right before he died on the plane, saw true love, a beautiful blond woman, could be Claire. That's my guess.

* Jumping ahead, in Jack's upcoming sideway flash, his wife is Juliet, and she is secretly seeing Sawyer. Just throwing it out there, just guessing. Fodder for next week.

* Desmond wants Oceanic Flight 815's manifest.

Until Next Week, Get Lost.

Lost Update - Bennie And The Jets

Lost Update - Season Six - 03/30/2010

Hey kids, plug into the faithless
Maybe they're blinded
But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our parents out in the streets
To find who's right and who's wrong
Bennie and the jets....

Tonight we got a peek at "Room 23" where all the mind shaping and subliminal messaging occurs. Jin is locked in the room, turns on the switch switching on the program. When we first saw Room 23 several seasons ago, it was a significant component to my Lost theory. Seeing it once again only fortifies my theory.

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been waiting to deliver this package to you for six years…..

Lets dwell a little longer on room 23 and then we'll move on. As my theory goes, Room 23 was used for adjustments to the virtual reality program for several castaways who did not conform and adapt. After a few hours in the room, they were now part of the fold.

Jin and Kwon was the focus on and off the island tonight. Only at the end of the program was the package revealed. In the sideways flash Jin and Kwon are not yet married, travel to the states to deliver a package, a watch and $25 grand.

Sun gets her sexy on daring Jin to tell her to button up her sweater. He doesn't. They have sexual relations (Sex for those of the younger generation) and in the morning receive a surprise guest at their hotel door. It's Keamy. He wants his watch and money. Jin doesn't deliver.

Drama follows Jin and Sun in both the side way flash and on the island. Perhaps their virtual reality scenario is exploring the complex dynamics of relationships among couples. As in any experiment, we have the control set, (Side ways flash) and the variable set. (The island scenario) Each scenario may be run dozens if not hundreds of times until the correct results are obtained. Exactly what Jacob said in the season five finale. We are seeing the end of each experiment. The end game. No more resets as Jacob feels he has the correct variables in place for a favorable conclusion.

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:

* Ilana tells Ben she knows he is lying because he is talking. LOL

* MIB tempts Sun to come with him to be reunited with Jin. Notice how he smiled, how he extended his hand. That comes into play a little later.

* Claire and MIB concerning Kate. After MIB is finished with Kate, what happens, happens.

* Pylons erected on Hydra island to keep MIB from entering.

* War is coming to the island.

* If MIB were to get off the island, everything would cease to exist. Perhaps a fail safe button to the VR program to reset the parameters or safe guard the lab.

* Richard returns, with a new sense of purpose, wants to stop MIB from getting off the island.

* Desmond is back, and he is the package.

* And one more thing as promised. About MIB tempting Sun to come with him. With his awkward smile and his hand extended. Exactly what he did with Kate in last weeks episode. Now here's the twist, the kicker, the Twilight Zone zinger. When Jack walked up to Sun's private camp fire and talked to her. Asked her is she trusted him. She answered with an affirmative nod. Jack than said that if Sun comes with him and the others, he will promise to unite her with Jin. He then smiles awkward and extends his hand out for Sun to take. She does.

Folks, that wasn't Jack. It was Smoky, old MIB. He promised Sun the same earlier but she ran in fear not trusting him. This time around, he got what he wanted. You read it here first.

Lost Update - Running With The Devil

Lost Update - Season Six - 03/23/2010

I live my life-like there's no tomorrow
All I've got, I had to steal
Least I don't need to beg or borrow
Yes I'm living at a pace that kills

Yeah, running' with the devil
Running' with the devil
I'm gonna tell ya all about it

I found the simple life ain't so simple
When I jumped out, on that road
I got no love, no love you'd call real
Ain't got nobody, waiting' at home

Tonight we finally find out about the mysterious Richard Alpert, the man who doesn't age. We also find out that he made a pact with the devil for eternal life. However, the six year question is, who is the devil that made the deal, Jacob or the Man-In-Black?

The song lyrics above, penned by Van Halen, hone in on what life for Richard has been since 1867, when he lost his wife and made the deal with the devil. He's been running with the devil ever since, with no home life, no love of his own. But if Lost is about the devil and God, and heaven and hell, how does my theory hold water, or wine, if you are Jacob?

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been waiting six years to tell you…..
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated, the Aliens of course.

Tonight, while the group was gathered around a campfire, Ilana asks Richard what to do next. Richard replies that he doesn't know. After being pressed, Richard becomes frantic and says he's going to tell everyone a secret. He says to Jack that he's dead, that were all dead, and the island, it's not what you think it is, they are not on an island, they are in hell. Richard runs off in the jungle and this starts his back story.

Here is Richards story in a nutshell. Take a deep breath and continue...
Richard was alive in 1867, his wife Isabella is gravely ill, he seeks the doctor to help her, the doctor is a major prick, says it's going to cost him plenty, Richard gives him everything he has, it's not enough, Richard gives him Isabella's cross and chain, the doctor tosses it to the floor claiming it is worthless. Richard goes crazy, tries to wrestle the medicine from the doctors hands, the doctor falls, hits his head, and dies. Richard flees with the medicine, but he's to late, Isabella is dead. The police burst in, take Richard to jail, condemn him to death, the priest refuses to give him absolution, says he will meet the devil in hell. On his way to the gallows, meets with Whitfield, asks if he can speak English, Richard answers yes, he becomes the property of Captain Magnus Hanso, shackled on the Black Rock ship, the ship crashes on the Lost island, only a few survivors, Whitfield kills all the prisoners except Richard. Smoky intervenes, kills the sailors above deck, and Whitfield as well, comes face to face with Richard, growling and scary sounds going on, Smoky leaves. Richard tries to escape, he cannot, he sees Isabella, she says they are dead and in hell, Smoky returns, Isabella runs, but not fast enough, MIB appears, helps Richard out of his chains, asking for his help, Richard agrees. MIB tells Richard that to get out of hell, you must kill the devil, gives knife to Richard, same speech mIB gave to Sayid, same results, Jacob lives, befriends Richard, baptizes him, shares wine with him, shows the cork, keeping evil trapped, hires Richard as intermediary, Richard asks to live forever, Jacob grants it, Richard gives MIB white stone, Richard begins his sojourn. And here we are...... Exhale slowly.....

As I stand atop my pulpit tonight, I see many a wide eyed Lost fans believing that the writers have lied to them when they claimed that the castaways were not dead and not in heaven or hell. But here we are, with only 7 episodes left, and all we hear now is heaven and hell, good and evil, God and the devil. Who can you believe? Who can you trust? One thing is for certain. You cannot trust Ben. He always lies. It's his nature. However, you can trust me. I have not yet led you astray. I have charted my course and kept a steady hand at the wheel and piloted you through the rough and choppy waters and shown you the way of virtual reality.

Richard in his many years on the island, has been seeking redemption for the murder he committed long ago. He is doing his penance. Running with the devil. His test, how far will a man go to regain the love of his life, to honor his dead wife, to achieve redemption. He's been at it for 150 years and it looks like he's about to win. But wait, 150 years old, and he hasn't aged a bit? What type of magic is this? Certainly we can rule out human science and medicine as factors. That leaves only two choices. Supernatural, God and the Devil, or Virtual Reality, where the castaways are being experimented on without their knowledge.

Lets analyze for a moment shall we. I do not know of any religion where a knife is used to either destroy the God or the devil so the other can escape. The bible states that God cast Lucifer from Heaven to rule Hell for all eternity. That is two places. Heaven and Hell. Jacob and MIB are in one place. The island. And if they are dead, are they completely dead, or just mostly dead? I ask this because if they are dead, several castaways died twice, and some castaways came back from their first death, or their second, and interacted with the dead, who thought they were living. See my point. It cannot be the road the writers are on.

As Sherlock Holmes famously spoke, "That when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?" Which leads us to Virtual Reality. Look at all the impossible events witnessed on the Lost island. An invisible island, a smoke monster, a man that doesn't age, an island that cannot be found, an island that moves, time travel, alternate realities, miraculous healing properties, Juliet and her amazing rack, seeing dead people, talking to dead people, dead people coming back to life. When you attempt to apply all the other lost theories to all these events, they fall short which leads us back to Sherlock.

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:

* Richard is from the Canary Islands, was alive in 1867.

* The Black Rock tumbled the statue.

* There's a a lot of dead people walking around.

* Richard makes a pact not only with MIB, but also with Jacob. Big time conflict there.

* Jacob says there are many names for hell. One of them could virtual reality.

* Jacob explains containing evil on the island to Richard through an illustration of the cork in the wine bottle holding the dark liquid inside.

* MIB smashed the wine bottle.

* Hurley speaks to Isabella. Relays message to Richard.

* Richard must stop MIB from leaving the island.

A final note. Jacob reiterated tonight that he will not interfere with the castaways. They must choose what they believe as right and wrong. They must choose their own path. What good is it if Jacob tells them what to do. They must find it our for themselves.

Just as any controlled experiment, the subject must be motivated enough to perform without knowledge of said experiments for pristine data to be recorded. That is why Jacob stays on the sidelines only observing.

Until next week, get Lost!

A special Shout out to Travis from Las Vegas. I told you Richard was going to say they weren't on an island.

Lost Update - Sympathy For The Devil

Lost Update - Season Six - 03/16/2010

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate

Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game

MIB tells Kate that he made a promise to protect everyone, and that included Kate. He tells Kate to take his hand and he will show her where Sawyer is. He attempts a smile and calming affect but Kate sees through it and does not take MIB's hand. At that exact moment, MIB reminded me of Satan, attempting to win over the people he duped into believing he was good. So you see, my Lost theory is spot on.

Tonight's episode was all about Sawyer, or Ford, or Lafluer, take your pick. We get a glimpse into his mind, his psyche. Both on the island and during his sideways flash.

What do we know about Sawyer to this point? First, he gets plenty of women. But most importantly, he is driven by one single thought. Hatred towards one man, the man who gunned down his parents in cold blood. His mission in life, to exact revenge, to kill the man who murdered his parent and ruined his life.

Sawyer became a grifter, a con man, a cheap man, out for himself, not letting anyone get in his way. These attributes would serve him well on the Lost island. In his sideway flash, we find that Sawyer is still running his con game, but this time, as a cop. He tells Charlotte, who he meets and beds, that he had a choice of becoming a criminal or a cop. He chose to be a cop.

However, although his cons are on the right side of the law, he is still pursuing the man who murdered his parents. Splitting hairs perhaps, but it is a fine line between good and evil.

OK, VR theory time.
Sawyer is being manipulated. He has been thrust into several scenario's to observe what choice he makes and what is the ultimate outcome of said choice. In Sawyers case, it appears no matter what scenario he is in, he ends up alone, bitter, and filled with hatred. Think back on the previous five Lost seasons, Sawyers story, a loner, loses Kate, Juliet, his wife in the flash, Charlotte, etc. No matter what choice he makes, he ends up alone, bitter, and filled with hatred.

Perhaps this is what Jacob and MIB were referring to in the season five finale, when Jacob says, "It only ends once. Anything that happens before that, it’s just progress." He is searching for the right scenario for Sawyer, the right variables, the right experiment, to allow him to be happy. We'll have to wait to the series finale to see if he ever achieves that.

One more thing I noticed tonight. The castaways are again split into groups. MIB's group, supposedly the evil group, and Ilana's group, supposedly the good group. Ilana's group is back where the season one started, at the shoreline by the wreckage. MIB's group is further inland. Remember when the castaways split into two groups, one wanting to stay on the shore, one wanting to venture more inland. It's all happening once again but this time, under a slightly different scenario.

Folks, face it, Lost is about virtual reality, and the castaways are being experimented and manipulated without their knowing. Data is being collected to help researchers in future experiments to better understand all the variables of life, and death.

"It only ends once. Anything that happens before that, it’s just progress. "

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:

* We see Sawyers standard pigeon drop con but this time, the girl is well ahead of him. Thought I saw a nip on her too.

* Sawyer is a detective in side flash. The complete opposite of what he is on the island.

* Miles is Sawyers partner.

* MIB reveals to Sawyer that he is the smoke thing that killed all those people.

* Charlotte was looking pretty damn hot.

* Sawyer is back to the Hydra station, where he was tortured in the bear cages. Sees Kates dress.

* Claire attacks Kate, tries to kill her. Sayid does nothing about it.

* MIB stops Claire, slaps her, and explains to her about Kate.

* Sawyer goes on a mission for MIB, a recon to spy on the people with the plane.

* Sawyer finds the plane, it doesn't look suitable for flying, debris scattered all around. A path leading into the jungle.

* Finds a pile of dead rotting people.

* Runs down Zoe, who looks like Danielle, se says she is the last one left.

* Surprise. Zoe is not the nerdy helpless woman, but a cunning conniving bitch who sets Sawyer up. He knew it though.

* MIB tells Kate his mother was crazy. Yes, he had a mother, a long time ago, before he became MIB. Very interesting.

* He refers to Kate that Aaron is in danger because Claire is a crazy mother also.

* They have a sub! Widmore's sub.

* QUOTE: "People aren't really gone when they die!"

* Sawyer and Widmore strike a deal. Sawyer lives up to his mantra.

* Anthony Cooper.

* Kate literally runs into Sawyer. He runs her down.

* Jacob can be seen as a bystander in the street witnessing Kate and Sawyer.

* No, not really! just checking to see if you are still reading this or moved to the comments section already.

* A shout out to Travis from Las Vegas. I told you it was Virtual Reality.

Until next week, Get Lost!

Lost Update - The Teacher

Lost Update - Season Six - 03/09/2010

Well the dawn was coming,
heard him ringing on my bell.
He said, ``My name's the teacher,
that is what I call myself.
And I have a lesson
that I must impart to you.
It's an old expression
but I must insist it's true.

Jump up, look around,
find yourself some fun,
no sense in sitting there hating everyone.
No man's an island and his castle isn't home,
the nest is for nothing when the bird has flown.''

So I took a journey,
threw my world into the sea.
With me went the teacher
who found fun instead of me.

Hey man, what's the plan, what was that you said?
Sun-tanned, drink in hand, lying there in bed.
I try to socialize but I can't seem to find
what I was looking for, got something on my mind.

Then the teacher told me
it had been a lot of fun.
Thanked me for his ticket
and all that I had done.

Hey man, what's the plan, what was that you said?
Sun-tanned, drink in hand, lying there in bed.
I try to socialize but I can't seem to find
what I was looking for, got something on my mind.

Lucifer was one of the most beautiful angels in all of heaven. So much so that he believed he could rival the Lord and plotted against him with a band of other recruited angels. God banished Lucifer to the pits of Hell for all eternity and turned him into an ugly offensive beast. Ever since the dawn of time Lucifer has been scheming to break free from Hell and return to Heaven to claim what we most desired. The kingdom of Heaven.

Throughout history, there are stories of great men and women being tempted by Lucifer during their time of weakness. Lucifer would promise what they so desired most. (Money, power, love, revenge) Some resisted, some did not. Even Jesus himself was tempted by Lucifer while he fasted in the desert for 40 days. Lucifer mocked Jesus telling him to rise up and end his own suffering and take a drink of water and to strike down the Roman guard readying to crucify him. Jesus resisted.

I'm telling you this bible story because it runs parallel with the last several episodes of Lost. MIB is Lucifer, the angel cast out of Heaven into the pits of Hell. (The island) He recruits an army of followers to overthrow the temple, (Heaven) leaving all others dead. He promises candidates what they so most desire to gain their allegiance. He even mocks Jacob, (Jesus) claiming what he does is a waste of time. And why does MIB (Lucifer) do all this? To get off the island.

There is your shout out to all the religion theorists, believing that the castaways are all dead, or in purgatory, or hell and need to prove themselves for redemption to move on.

However, that isn't what's happening on the island. My theory is far from this theory. Although, it can be easily incorporated as one of the many variables and scenario's being simultaneously being played out on the island.

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been waiting since Genesis to tell you…..

Tonight's episode is a continuation of the final conflict, an epic battle between good and evil. The Rapture comes to mind here, (Yet another bible reference) where the line is drawn in the sand. The good on the right, the evil on the left. How you choose is critical to your human life and your spiritual soul. Case in point, when MIB entered the temple as smoky. He killed all those who opposed him and gathered the rest as reluctant followers.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, the good side of the island, Llana, Ben, Sun, Lapedus, Miles, Hurley, Jack, and Richard were setting up camp at the site of the original crash of Oceanic 815.

Folks, this is all an experiment, a test of human nature. Conducted under the shroud of virtual reality. Unwilling and unknowing participants believing what they see and fell is real. In essence, a perfect laboratory where exact data can be recorded and studied. In this scenario, drawing from deep rooted religious beliefs, God, Lucifer, heaven, Hell, the after life, the castaways are pitted against each other in a battle of good and evil. On one side, MIB, (Lucifer) will take the charge against the good (Followers of Jacob) in a winner take all struggle to the death.

Imagine if you will a young adult playing Xbox 360. After playing the same game for awhile, he becomes good at the game, he adapts to the surroundings, anticipates the computers next move, and easily defeats the game. However, when he reloads the game and dials the skill level up a notch, the game becomes much harder, with more surprises. The castaways have been in this continuous loop for a long time. They know how to play the game. Case in point. Jack with Richard while the fuse is burning toward the dynamite. He tells Richard he will not die. He knows the game. He sees the end game. He knows this is not how it ends.

The virtual reality tests have conditioned the castaways readying them for this final epic battle. Each scenario previous was dialed up a notch until they are now all at expert level. What comes next is pure human instinct. Survival. At what cost! Will the castaways murder in cold blood to survive? Will they murder loved ones in order to stay alive? That is the end game folks. Level 9, and the ones who survive, win the game.

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:

* Ben teaches about Elba, the island Napolean was banished to after the war. He kept the title of Emperor but without power, titles meant nothing.

*Sun is a candidate.

* Miles gives up Ben to Llana stating Ben killed Jacob.

* Llana is pissed. Chains Ben to the ground and makes him dig his own grave.

* Richard tells Jack he was touched by Jacob and received a great gift.

* He tells Jack that he needs to go and die. Runs off into the jungle.

* Richard tells Jack he cannot kill himself. Exactly what happened to Michael. Michael tried to kill himself many times but always failed.

* Richard is dejected, said he followed Jacob for many many years. That jacob told him he had a plan, and that richard fit into the plan. That things were happening for a reason. But now Jacob is dead and his life is useless.

* Jack lights the dynamite, telling Hurley, if he wants to die, so be it.

* The fuse burns out just as Jack had predicted earlier.

* MIB frees Ben, tells him to come to the Hydra station.

* MIB tells Ben to shoot Llana with the rifle. He does not.

* All Ben wants is to be loved..... And to have all the power of the island once again.

* Ben in his sideways flash, does not betray Alex as he had on the island. Instead, he changes her fate, and his, for the good.

* The sub arrives, Widmore looks pissed.

Until next week, Get Lost!

Birdman Of Alcatraz Found

Giant Alien Skeleton Unearthed
Giant Alien Skeleton Unearthed
During a routine repair on the South wall at infamous Alcatraz island prison, incredulously an intact giant alien skeleton was unearthed by construction workers. The skeleton found was approximately 36 feet in length when laid out on a concrete slab and is estimated to have weighed 1200 pounds with flesh and blood. A handful of sightseers on Alcatraz island at the time were treated to a rare sighting of actual proof of an alien race.

The skeleton was named "The Birdman Of Alcatraz due to it's unique bone structure of the nose. The Grassy Knoll Institute is in the process of offloading the giant alien for transport to a secret West Coast laboratory for genetic testing in hopes the skeleton will reveal a biological weakness for humankind to exploit against them.

Lost Update: Sundown You Better Take Care

Lost Update - Season Six - 03/02/2010

I can see her lyin' back in her satin dress
In a room where ya do what ya don't confess

Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs

She's been lookin' like a queen in a sailor's dream
And she don't always say what she really means

Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain
Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain

When did Lost turn into a spaghetti western. (BTW, its what I had for dinner tonight, at the Grand Lux restaurant inside the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas) Just like an old time Western, we got the MIB (The bad guy) going to the sheriff (Dogen) of the town of Temple and telling him he has until sundown to get out of town or else he's going to kill everyone. Has the Lost island somehow magically transported back to the wild, wild West days or does this chain of events of what we witnessed tonight strengthen my theory even more.

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….Said in my best John Wayne voice: Now wait a minute pilgrim...

From the pilot episode of Lost, we were witness to 48 survivors of a terrible plane crash on a presumed deserted island leaving only themselves to either band together and survive, or to separate and die alone. From the beginning, unknown and unseen forces were at work dividing the survivors pushing them to choose to stay at the shoreline with the wreckage or to seek shelter further inland. Later on, the castaways were separated by good and evil and that's where we begin.

Tonight, Dogen tells Sayid that everyone has a scale balancing the good and evil in them. For Sayid, the scale is weighted towards evil. Sayid and Dogen fight and after a battle, Dogen tells Sayid to leave and never return. So who is the good guy, and who is the bad guy? That is the six year old question.

Lets take it from the top shall we. Jack once was the good guy, helping the castaways after the crash. He took charge and made good sound decisions to keep the castaways safe. He then slowly turned into the bad guy. Sawyer was the bad guy and slowly morphed into the good guy. Claire was the good girl and after axing her captive, we know she's on the wrong side of the tracks. Michael, good guy, looking out for his son, and then the bad guy, killing Ana Lucia and Libby. Ben, good, bad, good, bad, and over and over. Charlie, Locke, Sayid, Boone, Ana Lucia, even Jacob and MIB. In fact, everyone has had a scale malfunction shifting either from good to evil or evil to good. Some have had several scale changes.

This reminds me of the old proverb about the fox and the scorpion. One day down by the lake, a scorpion asks the fox if he would ferry him over to the other side of the lake by riding on the foxes back. The fox refuses stating the scorpion would sting him and he would drown. The scorpion reasons with the fox that if that were true, then both would drown for scorpions cannot swim. The fox agrees and the scorpion crawls on the back of the fox. Halfway across the lake, the scorpion stings the fox. The fox asks why the scorpion did that for now both were going to die. The scorpion simply replied, I could not help it. It is my nature.

And this my friends is exactly the experimetation being conducted. Through conditioning, can the scorpion be coerced to change it's nature. Can humankind through conditioning, be coerced to change it's nature. Is mankind capable of avoiding conflict, hate, jealousy, murder, betrayal, greed, and war. This is Jacobs experiment. To see if mankind deserves a second chance.

Jacob, (Or the alien race controlling the virtual reality lab) has run various pyschological and physical tests to see if they are worthy to survive. To be permitted to live on. Or as the MIB stated in the season five finale exchange with Jacob on the beach:
MIB: You’re still trying to prove me wrong.
Jacob: You are wrong!
MIB: They come, fight, they destroy, they corrupt. It always ends the same.
Jacob: It only ends once. Anything that happens before that, it’s just progress.

Jacob (The alien race) understands that time is running out. In an attempt to force the issue, (Mankinds inherent nature) he brings the current scenario to a head in hopes that good will triumph over evil.

Looking at the history of mankind, the future does not look promising at all.

Lost Update: Watching The Wheel

Lost Update - Season Six - 02/23/2010

People say I'm crazy, doing what I'm doing,
Well they give me all kinds of warnings, to save me from ruin,
When I say that I'm OK they look at me kind of strange,
Surely your not happy now, you no longer play the game,

People say I'm lazy, dreaming my life away,
Well they give me all kinds of advice, designed to enlighten me,
When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall,
Don't you miss the big time boy, you're no longer on the ball?

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go,

Welcome All Candidates! Apparently almost everyone that was a passenger on Oceanic flight 815 is a candidate to assume the duties of Jacob, the dead deity of the Lost island. Even Hurley. Jacob told him so. The dead Jacob, who told him to go to the light house, the light house that no one ever saw before on the island. The same light house that will shine a little light on my Lost theory.

Last week we got a glimpse of the infamous numbers that keep appearing on Lost. We found out that the numbers are assigned to names. The castaways names. Tonight, we got to see a much bigger list, hundreds of names on a light house wheel set at degrees. Hundreds of names with lines through them and a few still active ones including Shephard, Kwon, and Jarrah. But what does any of that have to do with virtual reality experimentation? EVERYTHING!

Six years ago I theorized that the castaways were in a virtual reality state of unconsciousness. While in this state, experiments, both mental and physical, were performed on them. They were inserted into a selected scenario and allowed to play out said scenario to it’s logical conclusion. As with any experiment, it must be conducted time and time again to prove the results. A control group and control scenario is implemented to achieve the best case pristine data. Hence, the island has two groups, the perceived good versus evil groups. Each group is then given a choice, and then tested on that choice. Notice during the previous five seasons characters changed, some becoming evil, some good, some becoming leaders, and some relinquishing the leader position.

Tonight we got a glimpse on how the castaways are studied. Did you notice the mirrors in the light house as Hurley was winding the come-a-long chain setting it to 108 degrees. Jack saw flashes in the mirror, one of an Oriental structure, perhaps Kwon's home, and another scene depicting what I think may have been Philadelphia. Jack then noticed names on the lens dial. Hundreds of names. Many of them with lines through them. Each name had a specific number on the dial. Jacks name was next to number 23, one of the infamous numbers.

Jack then tells Hurley to stop and move the dial to 23 degrees. (Jacks number) Jack sees his childhood house. he says they've been watching me for a long time.

The light house was the blind, or lack of a better term, the control room. To the virtual reality unconscious castaways, they were led to believe they were seeing a light house on the island. In reality, it was the control room of the laboratory where the castaways are, laid out in stasis, interconnected to one another. As a new scenario is introduced, much like a new video game level is achieved, each castaways absorbs that thought pattern and processes it and the new scenario begins. They are then intently studied for behavior changes, mood swings, violence, love, hate, compassion, empathy. As Jacob said, he won't stop until he gets it right.

The mirrors are an important part of the virtual reality world. With multiple mirrors, one can have multiple lives, multiple planes of existence. Jack saw one such reality, the house he grew up in. He is also aware of his life on the island. And the one three years prior. And the one on the island in the 1970's. And the one in 2004 on the mainland. And the one with a son named David. Get the idea here. Every castaways is living in multiple planes of existence while every nuance of their experience there is being recorded and studied. For what purpose, we will find out in the series finale.

The group watching the castaways use the mirrors to keep tabs on each castaways multiple lives. Sort of like changing the channel on the television set. And who is this group? As Juliet told Sawyer. "The aliens of course!"

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:

* Jack notices his scar on his stomach, seems to remember his wound on the island. Jack has a son named David. Who is a very talented pianist who is a candidate.

* Jacob tells Hurley someone is coming to the island and he needs to help him find it.

* Hurley tells Jack, "You have what it takes!" It sets him off.

* Claire has become Danielle. Danielle lost her baby, was stranded on the island with her expedition, and slowly one by one vanished. She also lived in the jungle alone, and tortured the people she captured in hopes of finding information about her child. This is exactly what we saw tonight in Claire. Perhaps, like in video games, the player changed his character and now Danielle became Claire.

* Jacks dad. Lost both on and off the island. Jack is searching for him both on and off the island. Coincidence? I think not!

* Jack came back to the island because he was broken and hoped the island could fix him. Boy, was he wrong.

* The light house. Jacks wonder aloud why no one ever saw it before.

* Jack smashes all the mirrors in anger.

* Jacob tells Hurley Jack is destined for something important and he must find it in himself to understand what it is he needs to do.

* MIB is Claire's friend. He's been feeding her bogus info on the others and her son, Aaron.

* Jin lies to Claire about Kate raising Aaron, perhaps to save her life.

Until next week, I'll leave you with the remainder of the lyrics of John Lennon's song, Watching The Wheel.

People asking questions lost in confusion,
Well I tell them there's no problem,
Only solutions,
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind,
I tell them there's no hurry...
I'm just sitting here doing time,

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go.
