Lost Update: Love Is In The Air

Lost Update - Season Six - 04/13/2010

Love is in the air
Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound

And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel sane
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name

(Chorus)

And I don't know if you're an illusion
Don't know if I see it true
But you're something that I must believe in
And you're there when I reach out for you

I told you Libby would be back! And Michael! And I told you all years ago that Desmond was able to control both universes. All this and more has come to fruition according to my Lost theory.

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been telling you for six years so what's a few more times between friends...
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated, the Aliens of course.

Tonight the theme music, Love Is In The Air, performed by John Paul Young, an oldie but goodie, is the heart of the matter for the gentle giant, Hugo Reyes. He meets up with Libby in the alternate reality. I TOLD YOU YEARS AGO THAT LIBBY WOULD MAKE ANOTHER APPEARANCE ON LOST! The lyrics suggest that Hugo may be dreaming, and perhaps insane, buts it's something he must believe in, go all in, go for broke, and that's what he does with Libby. It's a great love story and all, but there was much more going on tonight than meets the eye.

Lets begin with Desmond making the rounds in the alternate reality meeting up with the Lost castaways. Much like a certain someone who did the exact same thing and then got stabbed and kicked into a fire by a vicious smoke monster. Yes, we're talking about Jacob. Notice how Desmond in the last several episodes interacted with all the castaways just as Jacob did. Perhaps Desmond is Jacob in the alternate reality. Or perhaps Desmond is the new Jacob. Or is Jacob.

That alone would be enough to complete this episode but there is more. Much more. What we have been witnessing in season six is the confluence of realities of the castaways. And Desmond is their guide. (A sort of Hitch Hikers Guide To The Universe type - Not always knowing what he's doing, but getting the job done nonetheless)

Season six has been structured to reveal small intervals of life on the mainland for the castaways and revealing small intervals of life on the island. As the season progresses, each character's realities are merging, becoming one. With the aid of Desmond. Both realities are moving down stream to converge and pool at the end of the journey.

Case in point. Libby remembers both realities, tries to convince Hugo but at first he believes she is crazy. It's not until they kiss that all the memories of the island come flooding back for Hugo. Both realities are melding into one. And Desmond was there to see and assist. Libby's doctor told Hugo that she has issues with reality which she conveys to Hugo explaining about the island, plane crash, and experiences there. Hugo jokes that she and he were in some bizarro alternate universe.

There is still more. The voices in the jungle that Hurley and the castaways hear. Not only are they the dead people coming to visit but the past, present, and future of the island realities converging.

Years ago, I stated that the castaways were all interconnected, in a VR experiment, their thoughts being controlled by input stimuli and various psychological scenario's to study human emotion. I also stated that Desmond somehow learned how to control the VR, and influenced the outcome to his favor. He does the impossible, finding the needle in the haystack, Penny, his love. He also warns the castaways of certain events. He also saves Charlie countless times from death. He realizes the time loop he is stuck in.

My theory has arrived in full force.

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:
* Doctor Chang is back, the MC for Hurley.
* Libby is back and crazy as ever.
* Michael is back, and is dead as ever.
* Ilana went boom. Goodbye Ilana.
* Young Jacob is back. And Desmond saw him as well.
* Desmond meets up with Hurley in the alternate reality.
* Desmond states the island has it in for everyone.
* Desmond meets Ben in the alternate reality.
* Desmond meets and runs over John Locke injuring him severely.
* Michael appears to Hurley, tells him not to blow up the plane or everyone will die and it will be his fault.
* Hugo blows the black rock to smithereens.
* Hugo lies. Tells the group he is getting instructions from Jacob.
* Richard calls his bluff, proves he's lying. Jack doesn't care, he says he trusts Hugo.
* Richard, Miles, and Ben go to blow up the plane.
* The voices, people who are stuck on the island who can't move on. There Fox, there is your shout out.
* Smoky and Desmond at the well. Smoky asks Desmond why isn't he afraid?
* Smoky tosses Desmond into the well.
* Desmond interacts with Ben Linus.
* Desmond runs over Locke.
* Did I hear Charlie and the chocolate factory music in the background for next week's preview?

Only a few more episodes of Lost to go. I cannot wait for the finale.

  1. Holy shit. When I read your theory, it is like reading the script of the show. You predicted these people to come back? You predicted Dez would know all this. You predicted the alternate time lines? you are good man, real good. I'm a believer, coming in late to grab the glory with you, but I'm a believer.

  2. Dude. You are dead on tonight. This episode was written for you. Like the frak guy said above, its like they wrote the script with your theory in mind. I will freak out if the finale reveals aliens like you said. Totally freak. You'd be my hero.

Damn! This was a great Episode tonight. I like to check your update as soon as you post it. It seems fresher that way, the show still fresh in my memory.

MIB didn't just push Desmond intoa well, it was a portal to the electromagnetic power source Widmore has been searching for. And like MIB told Desmond right before he pushed him, the people who dug the well were looking for answers. Aren't we all.

  4. Oh but this episode was written for me, and my theory... The losties are dead or dying... When it is their time.... Well it's there time. Think about the characters that have been eliminated from the script. All of them are either, very bad or very good... The rest of the losties HAVEN"T BEEN JUDGED YET. In the meantime, god is lifting them out of the bog and mire. He is putting all of them on a path and studying each one of them as they walk along. Ilana, has proven her faith and it was like magic the way she disappered. No matter what the situation she kept faith, in what she believed and in return she was rewarded..

By the way, the happy sideway flashes, are not sideway flashes at all. They are glimpses of heavan....

Richard is hell bent on stopping the smoke monster (dead locke) and blowing up the plane. Ilana blowing up was funny as hell. She was a bad woman and got whats coming to her. Jack has gotten all pussy on us for this season, wake up Jack, take charge, you are the only one who can save them all.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The writers have already said they are not dead in some purgatory.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yes, I predicted Desmond would figure out the VR scenario and help the others as well. However, before you grab the glory, I only have a one in a million chance of being correct. But I'm getting close. :D

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm with you Gumby, everything I said is coming to fruition. Almost like I was part of the show from the inception.

    ReplyDelete
  9. It was almost as if Desmond was wanting MIB to do it, daring him, edging him on. And MIB said there were more wells than that one they were at.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Fox, if they are all dead, and the sideways flash is a glimpse of heaven, then that means Desmond is the happiest without Penny. In the sideways flash, he works for Widmore, alone, with no family, just business to attend to.

And John Locke, well, he is still in his wheel chair in heaven. That doesn't sound to good to me. And he gets run over by Desmond in a car. Certainly not heaven.

    And Jack is divorced.

And Kate is still on the run from the law.

And Charlie is still a drug addict.

    Certainly not glimpses of heaven.

  11. I wonder what would happen if Richard was handling the dynamite and it exploded. Would his body parts just recombine? :D Agreed on Ilana, she was ruthless. And Jack seems to have accepted his fate, but seriously dude, snap out of it. Jacob wanted him out of the temple for a reason.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Although that is true, the writers also said there was no time travel either and look what season 5 was all about. No theory at this juncture is dismissed, and all theories including mine is in jeopardy of being wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I do not think that "Michael" was really Michael's ghost. He went complete against Jacob's instructions to do whatever Richard said to do. Was there a brief moment at the grave when "Michael" held out his hand to Hurley? I think the "Michael" ghost was MIB.

If it is what you say it is, virtual reality controlled by aliens, then what is the big magical wheel that Ben pushes that changes time. Why is that there. And why are they living in two places on the island and not on the island. And if so, is Widmore an alien or another member.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, by pushing that wheel does that mean ben can do the same sort of thing as desmond does.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Desmond is the exception. He is sorta like God's warrior. He kills Locke because he doesn't deserve to be there for some reason.
    In rebuttal

Charlie is at his happiest when he is on drugs.
Jack wants to be divorced so he can sleep around. In life Kate was caught by the law, in heavan she is just on the run, not caught.

The age old question "will you remember/recognize me in heavan?" That's the question the writers are answering now...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh but when Locke saw Jack, shit hit the fan. Locke looked like he saw a ghost. Locke knows that Jack is the one. Jack will take over, send everyone on their way to either Heavan or Hell, and spend an eternity on the island with Julliet and her sensational rack.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Dude, that is a pretty lame rebuttal. Jack wants to be divorced! That is his heaven, to be divorced and and have a cold relationship with his son. And Chalie on drugs being happy, hardly dude, that is not heaven. And Locke in a wheelchair and gets run down. If it's a glimpse of heaven and locke is already in heaven, as you said it was a glimpse of heaven, then why would Locke get run down. Dude, that wasn't heaven. Maybe Hell, but I am swaying toward the alternate reality, or lotgk's theory, virtual reality.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I thought you said women can't be candidates. If so, then Juliet is not an option for the end game, so it may be Jack, but he won't be spending eternity with Juliet. I'm guessing Sawyer or Sayid.

    ReplyDelete
  20. If Ben could do what Dez can do, he'd be doing it already. Ben still has plenty of play left. IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow, good thought dude. Didn't Dogen say that smoky can only come as a dead person you know. Michael certainly meets that criteria. But why would smoky come as Michael who killed Libby, wouldn't he come back as someone Hurley would trust?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I can confirm this, they are all in Hell. Although they seem to be happy, they are not.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I noticed that you are receiving less comments from your lost updates than in previous years. Is it because they know you are right, or wrong, and have moved on, and will come back when the show ends to gloat or praise? Just an observation. I remember some intense conversations on here in years past.

    ReplyDelete
  24. ok LOTGK, when can you confess to everyone that you are a writer for the show?

It is too obvious at this point.

    Seriously?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hugo's speech at the end was awesome...
so was the whole episode libby is cute :o)
    shes above kate for me.
Sawyer: sonofb****, hah his fav word. ;o)

Overall i thought this episode was much better than last weeks (think that was the worst from season six) but this was right up there.

LAstly i've had look at the airdates...
    20/Apr/10 The Last Recruit
    04/May/10 The Candidate
    11/May/10 Across the Sea
    18/May/10 What They Died For
    23/May/10 The End (1)
    23/May/10 The End (2)

I have to admit they have ran this season smoothly, unlike the previous seasons where the were a number of breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The way i think lost is going to end is with 2 people left on the beach like Jacob and MIB... maybe Jack an Sayid. As there is candidates to take over the island i think there are candidates for smokey. Also we nearly got told what the island was in this episode... i think smokey saw weakness in Jhon Locke and all along has used him, i think it started when Locke saw Christian in the barn, Christian obviousy being the black smoke at that point and from there started his plan on John locke. I aslo believe that they will have a episode on the black smoke and that some point the Smoke monster was Vincent the Dog.---- Theres one to think about---- if the black smoke can take over dead humans he could take over a dog witch was in cargo and i think could not have a chance of surviving

I think every dead person on the island that reappears is smokey, i think he pretends to be them for his master plan to work to get of the island. when the black smoke covered Ecko, Smokey could see his past, so i think all the dead people were and have been smokey...like for example

Alex- Alex`s ghost told Ben to listen to John Locke. Thus Ben killing Jacob
Micheal- Telling hurly to see John Locke. Exactly what John wanted.

    Thoughts...
    Is Charles Whidmore evil?
    What is the island?
Is the black smoke just trying to kill all the candidates as he said to Jacob he would?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hurley is adorable, it made me sad that he thought only a crazy woman could like him. And I love that jack followed him, knowing he wasn't really talking to Jacob.

Desmond thought Smoky was Locke, I wonder if that's why he ran him over.

I cannot wait for the finale either, I am keeping my fingers crossed that they tie everything up satisfactorily or my fingers will be typing scathing letters and I won't be the only one!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Excellent call. I also wondered why Michael appeared to Hugo, who murdered Libby, his love. That is the last guy I would trust.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The wheel is merely a component of the scenario being played. The test is, what will it take for Ben to turn the wheel, what emotion makes him, love, hate, jealousy, a little of each. And in VR, the mind can believe that you are living in two different time lines. And Widmore is not an alien. It will be revealed in the finale hour of the series finale.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If Ben could do what Desmond does, he would already be doing it. Ben was resetting the island, believing he was moving it to another time line so no one could find it. Desmond can see and thrive in both realities at the same time. And best of all, as I predicted several years ago, he has mastered the time variable and can change the outcomes. case in point, the Hurley meet in the chicken restaurant, running over Locke.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Fox, if what you say is true, the side flash is a glimpse of heaven, that means that they are dead and they earned their spot in heaven. If true, then why would Locke not deserve to be there. he earned it. He's dead, and in heaven. Did God make an error? And if so, then it's not heaven. And to be honest, no one looked really happy there. It reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode where a criminal dies, and he wakes up in a hotel room. A assistant tells him that he is dead and that he is instructed to fulfill any wish and desire the criminal can think of. After getting his way for everything, he asks the assistant that he is bored, he is not having any fun, that he isn't with his own kind of people and that he wants to go to the "Other" place. The assistant looks sternly and states, "You are in the other place!"

  32. Jacob certainly has plans for Jack. Here's a twist that will blow everyone's mind. I'm letting the cat out of the bag here so no one go and post this elsewhere. What if Jack didn't survive the plane crash? What if when he awoke, and opened his eyes laying flat on his back, it was Jacob who assumed his body. You never saw the two together. That's all I'll say for now and let the comments fly.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If anything, it is a depiction of Hell. And thanks Val, I like my theory and sticking to it. :D

    ReplyDelete
  34. Juliet, with her fabulous rack, is always an option. Always a candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Say hello to Juliet's rack for me.

  36. Yes, very true. Over the years I lost some faithful readers and comments. I believe part of the problem lies in the area of change of address. When Lost began, i was posting at Homestead.com under then Grassy Knoll address. I was also posting at Blogger. Homestead shut down in 2005 and I moved as much as I could to Blogger and the new service, Modblog. Alas, it went South with many of my posts and comments. I moved to EFX2 and we all know what a fiasco that was. I then moved to my own domain under Godaddy for two years. Godaddy was having trouble with my comment database and I left for Wordpress. That is six address changes in six years. You tend to lose plenty of followers doing that.

  37. I will answer with one of my quotes from my second update on Lost posted September of 2004. It went like this...

"Throughout the series, the alien race will put obstacles in the passengers way to record and study their reactions, how they group together, how they work together, and how their imaginations become more vivid each passing hour. They will be studying the herd. This is why cell phones do not work. They are not on Earth. They are in space, on a giant ship just out of Earth’s sensors. The monster is just like the monster in the Movie, “Forbidden Planet”, a giant vicious invisible monster driven by the doctors ego, super ego, and id. The more the doctor was pushed, the more powerful and daring and jealous the monster became until it was uncontrollable and finally came into the camp and started killing the other people on the planet."

Doesn't that sound exactly what Smoky did at the temple. Wiped all the people out that didn't want to follow him?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I thought there was going to be a gap, no episode on May 18th, just a complete series recap to prime for the finale on Sunday night.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Again, perhaps John Locke didn't survive the original crash on the island and Smoky inhabited his body. that would explain an awful lot. Locke being healed, able to walk again, hunt, track, know the island like he's been living there forever. Just saying.

    Jacob is not dead.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Don't worry, they will tie everything up nicely. not for some, but for most. I know very cryptic, the end game has already been revealed. VR baby, and the Serling twist will be the introduction of the alien race in the last several minutes of the finale.

    ITS A COOKBOOK!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. New Question:

How many times can Valdunagan type dude in a post..

    ReplyDelete
  42. Maybe desmond ran over Locke so that Jack can perform surgey on him, maiking him able to walk again (just like with his wife in the past), then walkin will trigger the Lockes memories of the past since he never had a love interest on the island, his love was once again being able to walk

    ReplyDelete
  43. I still belive Sayid , Kate, and Sawyer are going to die

    ReplyDelete
  44. Solid point Bcarv. Desmond can see the past, present, and future so he knows what he has to do to course correct.

    ReplyDelete
  45. And plenty more. Plenty more.

    ReplyDelete
  46. CHEN CHUN FAN4/17/2010 5:11 PM

IF THE THEORY OF VR IS CORRECT I DONT UNDESTAND EXACTLY WHY THE GHOST WHO REVEALS TO HUGO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO IS TRAP IN THE ISLAND FOR BEING BAD BOYS, WHAT THAT IT MEANS?, AND ALSO I WAS WONDERING WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PEOPLE WHO DIES ON THE ISLAND THEY DIED REALLY?, THE ALIENS LET THEM RETURN TO THEIR NORMAL LIFE AND BLOCK OUT THEIR MEMORIES LIKE MEN IN BLACK?, OR THEY JUST DIED?. SO IS MICHAEL THERE TROUGH VR, OR HE IS JUST AN ILLUSION PLANTED FOR THE ALLIENS.
I MAY SAY THAT YOUR THEORY IS REAL PROBABLE, BUT I DONT KNOW WHY I FEEL THAT IS SOMETHING BIGGER WHAT IS GOING THERE THAT JUST AN EXPERIMENT OR ALIENS, I MAY SAAY THAT ONLY TO COMPLETE THE THEORY IF ITS RIGHT ITS LIKE THE WERE DECIDING THE FAITH OF ALL, TEST PASS WE LIVE, TEST FAIL, ARMAGEDON. THATS REPRESENTED FOR MIB SUCCEDING IN ESCAPING

    ReplyDelete
  47. Not just Micheal being there via VR, but all the castaways, all the players on and off the island are there via VR.
