As stated before, history and NFL records could be easily set in this game. Not only would New England be the first team in NFL history to go 16-0, quarterback Tom Brady can break the single season TD passes and total yards while Randy Moss needs two TD's to break Jerry Rice's long standing most tD's in a single season.
The NFL has succumbed to the pressure put upon them by the Grassy Knoll Institute, Sen. John Kerry, and other legislators to force the NFL to carry the game on local channels so all can enjoy.
Yesterday, Commissioner Roger Goodell stated in a press conference that the game will be shown on CBS, NBC, and the NFL Network, the first game to be three-network simulcast in 40 years, since the first Super Bowl in 1967. Goodell says it is in the best interest of the fans that the NFL is airing the game on three networks but just a few days ago, the NFL said they would not acquiesce and that the game would be broadcast only on the NFL Network.
The NFL is in the midst of a horrific public relations nightmare and only at this point decided to change their tune. Only the best interests of the fans in mind! Bullshit. The almighty dollar drives the NFL and they almost bullied the cable operators to pony up.

ReplyDeleteI agree that it is BS that ALL THE PEOPLE are requesting the NFL network. He is making his move to have all the NFL games on ONLY the NFL network. I believe that the announcement was on purpose. They figured if no one complained they made money; if everyone complained, they got free advertisement for the NFL network. The commissioner is such a BS'er. I watched him on TV "acting" like a nice guy. He's simply a businessman who has to make money for the NFL.
ReplyDeleteOne other issue I have is that Bryant Gumbel and Collingsworth were the announcers. I always change the channel whenever Bryant Gumbell is on. I see him as very arrogant and ignorant from the many years he has been on tv. I kept hoping he would change but, he did not...so I WILL NOT WATCH HIM EVER. Collingsworth is pretty much in the same league as Gumbell. If NFL Network thinks they will be successful with those 2 announcers, they are wrong.
Last night, while watching the game, we were not able to find a channel without those two. We turned down the sound and put on our Boston radio station to hear game. When we made calls to 3 different people, they all had done the same thing without us telling them what we had done! No one I know wants B. Gumbel or Collingsworth to torture them with their announcing. It's hillarious to me that the few of us shut off the sound without consulting each other!
In any case, Mr NFL looks just like he sounds, a fraud who is trying to look like a nice guy. He fails in the nice guy section!
