Chicago River Dyed Green For St. Patricks Day |
But what's in this so-called highly secretive blend of dye? For starters, the dye is orange, one of three colors of Ireland's flag. As the dye is poured into the river, it magically transforms into the bright Irish green. The rest will have to be left to the imagination. City officials have stated that the dye is non toxic and environmentally safe to the fish and ecosystem but still guard the actual ingredients close to their vest.
See the boat in the river. Take a close look at the back of the boat. Yeah, that's the Grassy Knoll Institute LOTGK logo. Yeah, we're everywhere!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

How much does it cost to turn the river green? I dont think 40 pounds of dye could color an entire river for an entire day. Looks cool tho.
ReplyDeleteGoing from orange to green?
ReplyDeleteNow that is magical!
My eyes keep going elsewhere
as I look at this screen.
That's probably your intention, eh?
Happy Saint Patrick's Day
Chicago's way ahead of time!
Good question. As the special ingredients and the delivery method are shrouded in secrecy, I would think the cost of dying the river is also kept under wraps. But if anyone knows, please let us know!!!
ReplyDeleteSmoke and mirrors are our game. It allows us to maintain our 99 cent conspiracy theory prices. :D
ReplyDeleteI had to look for your logo but I spotted it. Its faded right into the back of the boat. Were you there?
ReplyDeleteThat is actually pretty cool! :D
ReplyDeleteNo, not this year. But several years ago I was there, saw the river turn green, it was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt really is amazing seen in person. I was there a few years ago when they turned the river.
