Lost Update - Flux Capacitor

Lost Update - Season V - 04/02/2009

Tell me, doctor, where are we going this time
Is this the 50's, or 1999
All I wanted to do - was play my guitar and sing
So take me away, I don't mind
But you better promise me, I'll be back in time
Gotta get back in time

Don't bet your future, on one roll of the dice
Better remember, lightning never strikes twice
Please don't drive at eight, don't wanna be late again
So take me away, I don't mind
But you better promise me, I'll be back in time
Gotta get back in time

"DOC: Marty, we have to go back to the future.
MARTY: Why Doc.
DOC: It's your kids Marty, we have to do something about your kids.
MARTY: What, did they grow up to be assholes or something.
MARTY: Doc, we don't have enough road to get up to 88!
DOC: Marty, where we're going, we don't need roads!

It was only a matter of time before the Flux Capacitor and the 1.21 gigawatts needed to power it appeared on Lost. And everyone knew it would involve Hurley. I loved it when Miles was trying to explain to Hurley about time travel and paradox's and how things already happened, but for them, it was happening right now. Does my theory hold it's ground with last night's episode. Yes sir, it certainly does.

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been waiting a long time to tell you…..
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated, the Aliens of course.

For this update, we're going to change it up a bit. In 30 seconds, here is what happened on Lost last night. (Those of you that read slower, perhaps it will take a minute) I will then explain my theory. Ready, here we go.

* Ben is alive. Sayid did not kill him. Jin saves Ben.
* Kate to Sawyer's ex: Sawyer sent me! He's a coward. He stayed behind because of the child.
* Hurley waves his fingers checking to see if he was disappearing as in Back To The Future.
* Hurley and Miles discuss time travel and split time lines and that what was happening to them right now already happened to them 30 years ago. Hurley asked why doesn't he remember it then. And why doesn't Ben remember that Sayid shot him as a child.
* Jack refuses to help Ben even though he is a top flight surgeon. He states that he cannot tamper with the past. He is going to let Ben die.
* Juliet does her best to stabilize Ben.
* Kate donates blood. She is a universal donor.
* Kate meets Ben's father.
* Jack says maybe the island just wants to fix things all by itself.
* Kate doesn't like the new Jack.
* Jack said the last time he was on the island he tried to control and fix everything, now, not so much.
* Time paradox again - Hurley and Miles again cannot explain why Ben didn't recognize Sayid in 2004, the man who shot him in 1977.
* Ben is not getting better, Juliet suggests to bring him to the others.
* Meanwhile, Kate loses Aaron in grocery store.
* Sawyers daughter is Clementine.
* We learn Kates secret. She gave Aaron to Claire's mother, told her everything about the island and why she was going back. To find Claire.
* Richard doesn't answer to anyone, he said it, not to Charles or Ellie.
* Richard takes Ben into jungle, into a secret cave, tells Sawyer he will lose his innocence. Still want me to take him?
* John Locke returns. Welcome back to the land of the living saying to Ben as he sleeps.

In a nutshell, tonight revealed a reversal of fortune, or personalities. Jack has assumed Sawyer's role, he is now the bad guy, the loner, the outcast. Sawyer is now the new Jack, in charge, authority, trying to do what is right for everyone, trying to fix and maintain control over everything. As Ben said a couple of weeks ago. "And how did that work out for you!"

Jack declines to help Ben, and Sawyer is disgusted that he won't help. Think back to season one and two when Jack would ask for assistance and Sawyer declined, saying he was out for himself. This was a pivotal moment in the plot. Not only has the island shifted, but the people and their personalities as well.

I have said this 105 times so far, and I will say it once again. The castaways are in a laboratory, and without their knowledge or permission, are being experimented on like cattle. A virtual reality simulation running keeps all of them connected to control the herd, sort of like one giant electric fence. they are free to roam, free to think, to react, but don't step out of the perimeter lest there be consequences.

Some understand what is going on. Perhaps it is Ben, and through his efforts, is trying to break the control and end the game. Perhaps Desmond, with his flashes, sees what he is not supposed to see. And Faraday, perhaps he has reasoned out the solution and will implement a plan to save everyone.

Tidbits from last night's episode:

* Richard looks like he doesn't want to take Ben into the jungle. It's like he knows what will happen.

* Charles and Eloise are in charge. Not just over Richard.

* Jacob will be appearing shortly. Perhaps to cure Ben.

Until next week, Get LOST!

  1. no no no no. Richard says Ben will lose his innocence because children are innocent. The island is the gateway for Heaven and Hell. If Ben dies now, he will die as a child and all children are free from sin. By healing Ben, Richard and everyone else knows what he becomes: A sinner. The plane they took back crashed. They died or are dying from the crash. Choices will be made. Judgement day is coming. Ben will be the first one judged.

  2. "Ben is not dead. Richard will find him and somehow heal him." Yes that is my quote from a few days ago. These characters are living in multiple universes. Notice that Ben is injured in 2009 and in 1977. I will bet that Ben wakes up next to Locke right after Richard heals young Ben. Interesting how the redheaded chick disappeared when they stopped flashing and landed in 1977. She was already there as a young girl. The reason that Ben never made it to 1977 is that he was already there as a young boy. I have to beleive that somehow Sun is already on the island in 1977. Imagine Jin meeting a one or two year old Sun. Why else wouldn't she make it there with the rest of the Oceanic 6?

MAXIMUS your a genius,I wish i could think like you and maybe decipher this whole show.

  6. Cameron Dean, I finally guessed something right about this crazy show and had to brag a little. Truth is that the damn thing could be aliens. If I am right though I will proclaim myself a genius.

  7. Maximus is wrong about not being able to be in the same time period at 2 points in the character's life. Sawyer saw Kate when Aaron was born. At this point He was already on the island...so was Juliet.

Ben probably does remember them. Why else would they have been singled out on the list in season 2 for Michael to bring back to the camp?

  8. I don't want to blow my own horn, but take a look back a few weeks at my Lost twilight Zone theory. It explains plenty.

Second, last weeks episode I stated and I quote, "Let us begin with the ending of tonight’s episode. Young Ben helps Sayid escape. Sayid shoots young Ben in cold blood. Sayid breaks the cycle from repeating. Or does he? According to my Lost theory, Sayid is dead wrong. I’ll say it again for affect. Dead wrong!"

Also, in comment #4, I state, "LOTGK said

    Queen-
Ben is not dead. Trust me. Like I said in my update tonight, and several weeks ago, Driscol could not change the future by going to the past attempting to change history. Every attempt failed. Thus, the same for Sayid. Ben is not dead."

    Lost Update 03/25/2009

But, as I said, The castaways are not dead, they are not zombies, or the living dead, or mostly dead, or just a little bit dead. They are all in a clinical lab being experimented on. The virtual reality scenario keeps the human mind occupied so the tests can continue.

  9. By healing Ben, Richard and everyone else knows what he becomes: A sinner.
Fox, How would Richard know what lies ahead for Ben? Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, Sayid and the rest know what he becomes, because they lived through it. but Richard, its Richard in his time.

  10. "These characters are living in multiple universes."

    Maximus,
Through virtual reality. I have to go back to Einsteins special relativity theory explained a few updates ago and the time travel paradox.

Simply put, If time travel were possible, and you went back in time and murdered your father before you were conceived, then how could you go back in time if you don't exist. Please don't bring up Doc Brown and his Flux Capacitor and the 1.21 gigawatts time traveling Delorean.

With my theory, the castaways mind is being manipulated and controlled and fed information necessary for said experiment being conducted. As stated multiple times in multiple updates over the years, the castaways are thrust into new scenario's to study how they adapt, what Alpha emerges, does good triumph over evil, who falls in love with who. Notice that each is different in each time line.

    Tazman,
This has been proven wrong already. Remember a few episodes back when they were flashing every hour or so. Remember when Sawyer heard something in the woods? He saw Kate helping Claire deliver her baby. Sawyer was in the same timeline with himself for a brief period of time.

  12. you know what Lotgk jon should have said welcome back to the land of the living dead, becaus technically he is a living dead.

    Cameron,
I don't think the castaways are dead, zombies, or just mostly dead. If anything, religious beliefs are introduced into the virtual reality to add a calming effect to the castaways. Something everyone can grasp, understand, perhaps everyone's constant, their grounding.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I still believe that you can't exist in the same timeline as yourself. That is why as they flashed they were slowly moving closer to death(nose bleeds). Finally when they stopped flashing the only one who died/disappeared was the redhead. Why? Because she was already there as a child. The great thing about the show is that every week that goes by there are still 5-6 viable theories as to what might be going on. Pergatory, time travel, aliens, multiverse, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Why not. The Doc and Marty existed in the same time line as their other selfs. They even interacted with them.

Richard doesn't age so how do we know when his time is? Sawyer looks the same in 1977 as he did in 2007 just like Richard. How do we know when any of their times are?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Fox, this is my point exactly. Time is not relative to the island of Lost. It doesn't matter what the calendar on the wall says, it matters what the islanders perceive the time to be.
In one experiment, they crash land in 2004.
Another, they go back to ancient times.
    And yet another, to 1974.
And some travel to the mainland in the past and some into the future.

But, no one has gone anywhere, and the time, well, the time is right now. For everyone. All of them. They are just being manipulated into thinking they are in a different time era.

  17. I say it's the pearly gates, you say it's a virtual world. I guess we'll see. It will be a good debate, I look forward to it.

  18. Ben doesn't remember sayid because Richard said he would forget everything that happened.

  19. But some kids are bad. Why do they get a free pass to Heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  20. if they are living in multiple universes, then how can they cross over into another. Wouldnt the universe explode.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The writers have already stated that they are not dead or in hell.

    ReplyDelete
  22. In your twilightzone post, a man invented a time machine, on lost, the island is moving in time. Big difference.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Richard has always been on the island, so no matter what timeline the others are in, Richard is the constant, and stays the same age. This way he knows everything about everyone because he's been there all along.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The writers already said they are not dead.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm not saying they are dead, I'm saying they are almost dead, maybe in a comatose state.

    ReplyDelete
  26. All kids are innocent, Bad kids are a product of their enviroment, something out of their control.

  27. Tonight we will find out where two of our castaways are heading.... Heaven or Hell... Judgement is near.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Or New Jersey, which many consider Hell.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Perhaps in a virtual reality state? :)

  30. So why was Walt given a pass?

See you in about 9 hours.

  34. Sounds good, will look for update in morning.

  35. The others walk in the light while everyone else lives in darkness. The others are the only ones that aren't lost. Until they follow Ben. Richard and his people hold the power of light. That was a temple of worship to the Egyptian Sun God.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What would stand in the Shadow of the Sun God? Those who are righteous and pure. Those who have a light within. Those who don't need light to see in the dark because they are righteous. Righteous souls hold and walk in the light of god.

    - I didn't make any of that up but if you look hard enough you can find it in text somewhere other than this site.

  37. If you want to go crazy start reading Egyptian mythology. It all relates to the show. Especially Horus, Annibus, and Osire.

  38. If I want to go crazy, hey, I'm there already, and I like it.
