Lost Update - Series Finale - 05/23/2010

The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I've seen that road before
It always leads me here
Lead me to you door

The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here
Let me know the way

Many times I've been alone
And many times I've cried
Any way you'll never know
The many ways I've tried

And still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door

But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Don't keep me waiting here
Lead me to your door
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...

I chose the Beatles song The Long And Winding Road as the Lost series finale title for several reasons. In 1969 and 1970, the Beatles imploded, the band split up and their final two albums were in peril of not getting completed. (Some speculate that Yoko Ono was a main conduit in their demise much like MIB was to the Lost candidates) The original code name for the follow up to the White Album was "Get Back." However, the project fizzled after several tracks were laid down and the Beatles were close to folding.

In the end, the Fab Four pulled it together, (Much like the Lost candidates) and released the Abbey Road album in 1969 and the Let it Be album in 1970. It was released in May of 1970, perhaps the same time the Dharma Institute first landed on the Lost island and set up camp. Let It Be was supposed to be released before Abbey road but as discussed above, it was part of the Get Back project and was shelved for a time. Almost as if the album time traveled to the future.

The lyrics itself of The Long And Winding Road speak of a love story with heartache always leading back to the beginning. And like my Lost theory, it began with the pilot episode and after a long and winding six seasons, we're finally at the end of our journey.

Just what was the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….It's finally time to reveal all...
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated at the season three finale, the Aliens of course.

Wow, what a finale. This is going to be a short and sweet update. I am only going to state a few things here and pretty much like the Lost writers did, let you decide what just happened. Maybe Kimmel live will be able to shed more light (Pun intended) on what really happened on Lost.

First and foremost, I want to thank all those who have followed my blog during the past six seasons. I hope you have enjoyed the past six years as much as I did. From the get go, I announced my theory, virtual reality, and proceeded to prove the theory week in and week out. In the same breath, I also stated that I had a one in a million chance of being correct. At least I was correct on that. :D

When I started writing this, I was going to point out what Christian said to his son, "This is a place you all made together so you could find one another." I think I could make the argument that they all had the same shared experience, all experiencing the same scenario at the same time, and perhaps that would explain my virtual reality theory. However, I don't think so. The way the show ended, all in the church, all reunited and happy, with the good Shepherd (Christian) leading them into the light, it was all about redemption and love.

Before I turn this over to the commenters just waiting to say, YOU'RE WRONG DUDE, I TOLD YOU SO. ETC. I'll leave you all with a line from my favorite band, the Beatles, that sums up the entire Lost series in one simple line.

And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love, you make...

LURKING, STILL LOST ON THE GRASSY KNOLL

  1. awaiting alternate endings.

Fox please hold the I told you say, give me props, cause it's not happening.

  2. Great Beatles tie in grassy one, sorry you weren't correct, but look at the traffic you received over the years. The anti christ guy is gonna be all over this b gloating that he was right. He said it long ago on the homestead site that they were all dead and fighting to get out of hell. I hate when he's right.

  3. I'm not going to say I told you so, because I think your theory was better than the cliche ending we actually got.

    I'm a little disappointed. Frustrated.

I was REALLY disappointed, pissed, and frustrated until I watched Kimmel.

I really liked Jimmy's theory. I could buy that theory. It works for me. Because otherwise, things just don't tie together. Widmore? Dharma Initiative? Walt? No babies being born on the island? The others? Anything.

I get that the journey is more important than the end, but I felt like the producers walked a very fine line with lying to viewers, and just threw up distractions to keep us from having any sort of clue.

I'm still glad I went on the journey, but I hoped for more. Not necessarily answers (I'm an old Alias fan and I remember the production team didn't answer for that show either,) but firmer connections for sure.

Thanks so much for the great blogs over the years. Each one has been enlightening and entertaining. It's been great having a community to talk with other fans about LOST.

  4. I don't mind, go ahead, tell me. I knew from the get go my theory was outlandish, and only had a shot in the dark of being correct. To be honest, I didn't like the ending all to much. Hanso, Dharma, the time travel wheel, the time travel, pushing the button every 108 minutes, not really explained. Merely filler for six seasons.

  5. What a crazy amount of traffic on my blog right now. Thank you everyone for reading all these years.
    Good night.

  6. No, I honestly think it's a great theory!

I liked this episode. I just didn't like it to tie up this series? You pointed out some other good things that were left wide open with seemingly no point.

Yes, we got 5 seasons of filler. Some seasons almost could have stood alone as their own series; this one included.

  7. and............ No alternate endings?? I will await for you to crown me, before I post again...

  8. Thanks again LOTGK!

Kind of expected ending.. could have been worse (like with aliens, jk).

All in all, good journey, good ending, too much unnecessary material throughout the seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I must say I was a little disappointed....I'm sorry I didn't want it to be aliens...but i thought them being dead was just too easy. oh well.

  10. LOST really messed up! Did not answer any questions as promised! They are a bunch of damn time wiasters... 6 years, and all for what???

  12. Yes, I was hoping for more than that type of ending. Oh well. At least Flash Forward is still on.
    Wait, that was canceled.....

  13. No alternate endings for me. I stuck with my theory and kept to it. And Fox, like the succession to the throne of England, you are not on top of the list.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You are very welcome Przn Rug. I too was hoping for a better ending with answers to the many questions put before us. This ending had to really suck for Atheists.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Paul, no one wanted it to be aliens, except me, so you are in very good company. I also wanted a better ending than presented.

    ReplyDelete
  16. perhaps that is why the writers stated they were going silent after the finale aired.

    ReplyDelete
  17. They werent all dead guys. everything on the island happened. the flash sideways was more of a flash forward to the time when they all were finally dead. christian stated some died b4 you some died long after u. it was more like a map for them all 2 find eachother and be together in lets say heavan...

Even if I was the most religious person on the planet, I'd still think "God did it" was a lazy ending (at least I hope I would). LOTGK, I wish I'd found this website sooner, it's been a lot of fun...and even though you weren't correct, you should've been..!!

  20. Curious to not see Mr. Eko last night. If the castaways had created a place for everyone to find each other, why was he not there? And Walt as well. And Mr. Artz? Were they not included, not worthy, not in the in crowd for heaven? Still many questions, and very few answers.

Well I don't want to see you waiting
I've already gone too far away
I still can't keep the day from ending
No more messed up reasons for me to stay

    [CHOURUS]
Well this is not for real
    Afraid to feel
    I just hit the floor
    Don't ask for more
    I'm wasting my time
    I'm wasting my time
    You can't stop the feeling
    There is no reason
    Let's make the call
    And take it all again
    Woah again

Months went by with us pretending
When did our light turn from green to red
I took a chance and left you standing
Lost the will to do this once again

    [CHORUS]
Well this is not for real
    Afraid to feel
    I just hit the floor
    Don't ask for more
    I'm wasting my time
    I'm wasting my time
    You can't stop the feeling
    There is no reason
    Let's make the call
    And take it all
    I'm wasting my time
    I'm wasting my time again
    Woah again

    See you waiting
    Look so lonely
    See you waiting
    I see you waiting

    [CHORUS]
Well this is not for real
    Afraid to feel
    I just hit the floor
    Don't ask for more
    I'm wasting my time
    I'm wasting my time
    You can't stop the feeling
    There is no reason
    Let's make the call
    And take it all
    I'm wasting my time
    I'm wasting my ...
Well this is not for real
May I? "Wasting my time" by Default.

    Afraid to feel
    I just hit the floor
    Don't ask for more
    I'm wasting my time
    I'm wasting my time
    You can't stop the feeling
    There is no reason
    Let's make the call
    And take it all again

I put the header in the middle of the song, and the words don't fit all the way...but it does have the word "Lost" in it :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I thought your last one would be more detailed but maybe you're letting it all marinate like I am? Anyway, it was a helluva ride. Emotionally satisfying and I can live without ALL the answers.

Hey, it could've ended like "The Sopranos" which was the absolute worst planned ending in television history.

Jimmy Kimmel actually had a pretty good take on it, surprise! And for the most part, I agree with him...

A wonderful, trippy lil' ride... Now I gotta get ready for "24"....

    See ya later, old friend...

  25. I was unable to watch the final episode, I was dissapointed to learn that your theory was not corect. I had hoped that your theory was going to be the outcome, for me it would have been a better ending more befitting of the times.

  26. The perfect song to a perfect ending.

    ReplyDelete
  27. ok, after the fourth episode of the season, I stopped watching because I already knew the ending: The series stopped holding my interest and everybody just vanished.

I still don't know what happened after the 'Richard thinks he's in hell' episode. But I had to come back and read your Lost Finale.

It's been a pleasure following your blog and your commenters for the last few years. It could be said that *this* is a place we made together.

    It's been fun.

Let me know when you start blogging another series. Maybe I'll watch TV again someday. :)

  29. I don't know if the writers deserve us to be talking about LOST for one more moment but...... I can't resist. The question I have for LOTGK is......

Does the ending actually make sense? Now I believe there is too many loose ends that contradict the finale...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I thought that the ending was fantastic. What a perfect show. It was always about the characters and it was their closure that I was always interested in. I could not have asked for anything more. Best supporting actor for Terry O'Quinn. The guy is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It kind of looked like the "cliche" alien skull when jack was checking that x-ray did it not?

    ReplyDelete
  32. that was the exact question i was going to ask

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why the hell weren't the other Oceanic passengers who survived the crash in the church? Why just focus on the main stars? Surely all of them didn't "die" on the island did they?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good choice for lyrics for Lost finale. That sums it well as well.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Maybe I missed something...What I want to know is "When did they die?".......was it before the plane crash?...did they die when the plane crashed? Did they die on the Island? Sooooo many unanswered questions? In theory, I can't see that the Island even existed, a bunch of hoobaloo about nothing. I don't know what else to say. These guys made alot of money for ABC and themselves at the viewers expense...shame on them.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I was just thinking, Lost has spanned my Homestead blog, Blogger, Modblog, EFX, Go-Daddy, and now Wordpress platform.
Perhaps the Grateful Dead's song, Truckin

Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me,
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me, What a long, strange trip it's been.

Truckin', I'm a goin' home. Whoa whoa baby, back where I belong.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Actually, I liked Jimmy Kimmels alternate ending better, when Sayid got booted off the island.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes, I had that picked out over four years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  39. To the writers, what?, I mean WTH? They got some 'splainin' to do. This ending was on par wit "Dallas". I will never watch anything these writers are a part of again.

The story was OK in that it brought most of the characters together and there was recognition amongst them but THERE WERE NO EXPLANATIONS OF ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED ON THE ISLAND FOR 6 YEARS.

Thought Des had succeeded cause as the island(lab) was breaking apart characters were beginning to recognize each other. ( I watch with closed captions so I don't miss any dialogue and every time characters touched the screen would say, "low magnetic zap" so i thought they were becoming disengaged from the experiments.

If this is the state of writing than i think the production process needs to be changed. It seems as if once the writers were involved with other projects they Lost became a lame duck.

If they are saving explanations for a movie Im not sure it will succeed because who wants to get the shaft again. Fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice shame on me.

Phew, i feel a little better now, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Serena, thank you for the kind words, and yes, the series sort of stalled in the 4th season. Perhaps you are correct, that "This" place was made by all of us to enjoy.

about another series, no, the last one I did was the X-Files, way back in the 90's, when the Internet was young. Don't know what the future holds.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Because they were all dead and the flash forward gave them another chance at redemption to correct their past mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I read an article/tidbit that said they couldn't secure Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje for the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The writers did their job, the ratings I'm sure were huge for the finale, and that equates to advertising dollars.
Perhaps we should give the writers another chance at redemption.

Does the ending make sense? Not to an atheist it doesn't?

    ReplyDelete
  44. You didn't ask for my opinion, but for the sake of chit-chat, I'll toss it out.

I think the ending sort of makes sense if you go with the Kimmel/Fox theory. Did you watch?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Terry O'Quinn is an excellent actor. Just his subtle shift in facial expressions gave the esence of an evil entity.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Perhaps those who weren't there aren't dead yet.

I think they all died at different times, but this is how they remember one another/how Jack remembers them. And since this is his 'funeral' it's his story we get.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I thought maybe he was going to be the priest or minister to lead the ceremony.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes but if it was all about Jack than why go into all the other characters?

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's just it we didn't get a story, The way it ends Lost could have been a one time half hour show.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Wholeheartedly agree.

    ReplyDelete
  51. They also said it was not about purgatory but that's what it seems like.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I did not notice that. I may go back and review it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yea, inconsistencies for sure with the religious outcome. Here we have Mr. Eko, one of the most religious persons on the island, and he isn't invited to church.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It think it probably sucked for most people.

    ReplyDelete
  55. And what if they did, they would also be invited to Heaven wouldn't you think? Perhaps heaven has a class system, and like Nikki and Paulo, they took a dirt nap instead.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Alright...I'm doing my own ending right now.....so Lapidus gets everyone on board the plane. They take off and the island sinks below them. The white light or whatever surrounds the plane and bam....they are all back on the plane heading to los angeles. I would have had to make the entire 6th season different in order to fit this but I would have much rather had the island be real and the viewers could debate from then on what it actually was. I think something like that would have made this show last for people way after it was over.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Are they part of the whispers that can't move on?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hey you know you can keep this going.

I stumbled upon you much too late but you made the show more fun and interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  59. They do not and no, it does not.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I agree good actor along with Ben.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I guess too many people went into the finale thinking that in 2 hours every question was going to be answered combined with a "Usual Suspects" or "Sixth Sense" ending. I am a lot easier to please. Great writing + great characters + great acting = a great show. Ayone who wasn't moved by each characters awakening last night should throw on their stormtrooper costume and head off to the Star Wars convention because they were watching the wrong show. I didn't need a time machine or a spaceship to enjoy the ending. Although LOTGK was off in his theory it looks like he agrees to some extent.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That would have been really neat. I don't know if he was one of the whispers or not. I never heard it addressed.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh I have no idea why we got their backstory, just to exhibit the interconnectedness of life and our choices/decisions?

    ReplyDelete
  64. And I suppose our fleeting thoughts as life expires doesn't have to make sense, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Dude, you didn't get the alien part right, but you did get this theory right.

    Its been done Lost writers.

    ReplyDelete
  69. So it could be fleshed out for six seasons. :D

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yea, some wild theories there Val. And one of them is correct. :D

    Or not.....

    ReplyDelete
  72. Its the proverbial, seeing my life flash right before my eyes before I died.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Lost was sort of like Dancing With The Stars. It takes them two hours to announce one person who's going to home where it could take all of two minutes. For Lost, we just attended a six year funeral. Hope everyone ate before they left.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Only problem was, and is, will be the DVD sales for season six. Who's going to buy it now knowing what the ending is.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I thought we were treated to all good acting. Even on the writers part when they lied saying after the pilot that they were not dead, in heaven, hell, or purgatory. I guess they were all like Ben Linus. They always lie. :D

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thank you. I also had a blast concocting my wild outlandish theory and just waiting for volley after volley to refute it. Good time was had by all.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Its better than what we saw last night. :D

    ReplyDelete
  78. I don't see any syndication for this show at all. It's not like Star Trek or Seinfeld where you can pick up anywhere and appreciate it on an episode by episode basis.

    ReplyDelete

    Heh, I like it.

    They already syndicated it.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I told you all I was right all along about Lost. Right down to Jack's eye opening and closing.
Evil always wins because good is dumb!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I feel cheated. I'm actually quite angry at ABC. They tricked all of us. They put a bunch of crap into a show for 6 years that all meant nothing at the end. I didn't expect to get all the answers but I did expect better than this!

    ReplyDelete
  83. I've visited A LOT of different blogs and sites today with polls and I was surprised to see between 50-60% of fans liked the finale. I realize these can't be 100% accurage, since anyone can vote, but I was still surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Appears to be normal to me.

    http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-1557-8.html

    ReplyDelete
  85. Agreed there Max. Maybe in a few years, a new generation of viewers can sit down and watch even knowing the outcome.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yea, there are plenty of series finale tunes out there.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yes, you were Antiguy. You were pretty darn accurate. Good job.
Except on your Space Balls quote. :D

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'm not angry. Sort of relieved actually. Lost is over. I guess when Jack said "Chasing the ghost of my dead father led me here," told the end of Lost.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I understand that you cannot please everyone. I think those displeased, wanted more than just closure, they wanted answers to many of the questions throughout the six seasons. Instead, the questions were explained away as filler for the show, a love story.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I read a cool article about three seasons in (I don't remember where) that was gleefully pointing out that Abrams, et al had sucked in a bunch of non-sci-fi people into a very sci-fi show. I guess the most disappointing thing about the finale is that it was written for the non-SF people, and not for (pardon me if I include you all) US.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I have been following this sites updates since season 3 and never have posted anything. But Thanks to LOTGK for all your updates over the years I really believed your theory during this season. And I want to throw my thoughts in on the finale.

Now I am going to remain neutral on the finale it was just ok. I really wanted an answer to what the island is. But based on what I saw in the finale the story was never about the Island or any of the crazy questions that the show forced people to ask. The writers are telling a story of human nature where a group of messed up and broken people are brought to find a purpose and redemption in their lives.

This is why I think the writers did not answer a lot of questions because it never mattered it was just filler to show the change in the people from the first episode to the last. I am not supporting the writers on not answering questions but they are basically leaving it up to the fans to find their own answer.

The entire story seems to remind me of a type of story like the Greek mythology story and mythology as a main theme during the show.

I do not know though that's just my 2 cents.

  93. Yes, there were many interviews where the writers stated that the castaways were not dead, were not in purgatory, or heaven, or hell. But it looks like they lied. Oh well, that's Hollywood.

    ReplyDelete
  94. TM, you are very welcome. Thank you for reading and commenting.

I didn't hate the finale, I certainly didn't love it. I really didn't care what theory was correct, just wanted more concrete answers to the questions that arose over six years.

    ReplyDelete
  95. There was no X-Ray, remember, they were already dead. :D

    ReplyDelete
  96. I thought about that too but was all the background necessary in such detail and for 6 years at the viewers expense.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yep, they put the fun in funeral.

  98. Yes indeed, one last Twilight Zone comparison before we amble off into the Internet sky. This episode is from 1962 and is titled, "The Hunt."
    Monologue:
An old man and a hound named Rip, off for an evening's pleasure in quest of raccoon. Usually, these evenings end with one tired old man, one battle-scarred hound dog, and one or more extremely dead raccoons; but as you may suspect, that will not be the case tonight. These hunters won't be coming home from the hill. They're headed for the backwoods of the Twilight Zone.

    Synopsis:
Hyder Simpson lives with his wife and his hound-dog Rip in the backwoods. Mrs. Simpson does not like having the dog indoors, but Rip saved Hyder's life once, and Hyder won't be parted from him. Mrs. Simpson has seen some bad omens recently, and warns Hyder not to go raccoon hunting that night. When Rip dives into a pond after a raccoon, Hyder jumps in after him, but only the raccoon comes up out of the water. Next morning, Hyder and Rip wake up next to the pond. When they return home, Hyder finds that neither his wife, the preacher, nor the neighbors can hear him or see him—they seem to think that he and Rip are dead.
Walking along the road, he encounters a fence he doesn't recognize, and decides to follow it. Presently, both come to a gate. The gatekeeper explains that he is Saint Peter and that Simpson can enter the Elysian Fields, but he is disheartened to hear that there is no raccoon hunting in heaven, nor are there any of his other usual pleasures. When his is told that Rip can't enter and will be taken elsewhere, he angrily goes on down the "Eternity Road" rather than enter the gate without his beloved dog, figuring that "Any place that's too high-falootin' for Rip is too fancy for me." Later, after stopping to rest at a log, Simpson and Rip are met by a young angel whose job is to find and bring them to Heaven.
Simpson tells the angel about his experience at the first gate, commenting "Son, that'd be a helluva place without Rip!" The angel replies "Mr. Simpson, you ain't far wrong - that is Hell! Heaven's up yonder apiece," pointing up Eternity Road. When asked by Simpson why the gatekeeper at the gate to Hell wouldn't let him bring Rip inside with him, the angel explains that the reason Rip was not allowed in was because the dog would have been able to smell the brimstone and alerted Simpson that something was wrong. The angel goes on to say, "You see Mr. Simpson, a man, well, he'll walk right into Hell with both eyes open. But even the Devil can't fool a dog!"
The angel also tells Hyder that there will be a raccoon hunt in Heaven that night, "right after the square dance," and assures him that his wife, who will be coming shortly, will not have any trouble with the Devil up the way.
The story resembles a tale in the Mahabharata known as Yudhisthira's final test. Located in the 18th parva, Yudhisthira refuses to go into heaven unless he can take his dog. Thus proving his loyalty, he passes the final test for heaven and the dog transforms into Dharma, his father.

    Epilogue:
Travellers to unknown regions would be well-advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate. At least, it happened that way once—in a mountainous area of the Twilight Zone.

This was taken from the Twilight Zone Wiki

Notice the final paragraph of the synopsis, where his dog turns into Dharma, his father.

Sort of sounds a little like the Jack saga we've been watching for six years. And Vincent the dog being loyal laying down with Jack to keep him company as he dies so he would not die alone.

  99. I've actually been to several fun funerals. I know it sounds strange, but I'm Irish, and well, anything can happen at a wake. Except time travel and the appearance of a smoke monster.

  100. That to me is what makes it equivalent to Dallas and the dream ending, it doesn't account for the viewer's investment.

wow never thought i'd reference that.

  101. They should be a celebration of the person's life and that they will eventually move on. It' just the weight of the loss.

  102. Christian told Jack that he actually had experienced everything. That would leave open the aliens/angels/gods/whoever testing the survivors until they were ready, whatever that means.

  107. It amazes me how much detail people have missed, Jacob explained that the island was like a bottle that held the power of life and death, Desmond pulled the plug stopping that power from following its normal channels. Desmond was special so that his body could survive vast electromagnetic fields enabling him to get close enough to pull the plug. Pulling the plug took away Locke's ability making him mortal giving Jack the chance to kill him as planned by Jacob. Desmond on the island thought the sideways world was another reality, but in the other reality Desmond knew they were dead and why they were there.
Jacob and the story line abut what would happen if Locke left the island, it was clear Jacob also had limited information, he had learnt everything from what little his mother had told him.

For example Jacob did not want people to leave the island yet when Hurley became in charge the rules changed, this is why the plane could leave, also the plane flew off before the island had properly rebooted so to speak. As for why only the MIB became the smoke monster after going down the hole, I am guessing that is because he fell a long way and died but went into the light. You seen a skeleton there (or two it appeared).

As for the why the island cured people or interfered with pregnancy its safe to speculate that the island had a strong electromagnetic field (and other types of energy.

Overall, I was happy with the ending, the best love scenes i found were juliet/sawyer and jin/sun. It was disappointing that not all the questions were answered, but because the finale was so good i wasnt that bothered :-)

  108. Yes, talk about detail people have missed. As in the make of Jack's tie. What color of shoes Claire wore in season one, the first six episodes. What was in Kate's back pocket. John Locke's middle name. The three types of guns Sawyer horded. What was the number printed on the submarine in season two.

  110. I'm repeating what I said in your latest update

I feel lied to by the writers. They said that it was a guarantee that the lost crew were not dead and not in purgatory. And then the last five minutes of the show they show them all dead and in purgatory. Did I like the ending. Not at all. I felt lied to, cheated, duped. Maybe since after the pilot millions of people were saying that they were in purgatory guessing their well guarded secret that they had no other choice but to lie to millions of loyal fans for six years.

  111. It was a great show and very entertaining. Thanks for the kind words.

See you in another blog brother.....

  112. Lost Fan,
If you search the USA Today archives, you will see that Cuse and Lindelof both stated that the characters are not dead. But in the finale, they are. A prerequisite to being in Purgatory is that you have to be dead. This tells me the writers lied to the viewers. Let it be on the island, or the flash forward, back, or sideways flash, the characters were dead.

  113. "Well, Michael we know is stuck on the Island as a “whisper” because he can’t move on, due to his killing of Libby and Ana Lucia in season two. Walt was freed from the Island early on, so the journey that bonded the Oceanic passengers in the purgatory universe was one that Walt was never really part of."

"As for Mr. Eko, his death in the season 3 episode “The Cost of Living” showed that Eko had come to peace with his life. When told by the ghost of his brother Yemi to “Confess his sins,” Eko refused, saying that he had no guilt to confess; in his life, he did what he had to do to survive. The smoke monster evaluated Eko, who stood resolute about himself, his sins and the faith and redemption he’d ultimately found. After smokey beat Eko to pulp, Eko’s last vision was his young self walking away with his brother, holding the soccer ball they used to play with.In short: Eko, by finding his faith and coming to peace with himself, had no reason to be in the purgatory world with the others. Wherever his soul was going, it was prepared for that journey – unlike the other passengers, who still had to come to peace with themselves and their deaths."

  114. Jacob, Kate murdered her father, and Sayid killed numerous people, and Sawyer murdered people on and off the island, yet all three got invited to the church. Why would Michael be singled out for murder and not all the others.

How was Walt "Freed" from the island early on?

  115. Pat, I'm watching the SYFY channel all day marathon of the Twilight Zone. Its like watching reruns of Lost. Although you weren't right about virtual reality and aliens, your original thought of a remake of twilight zone I think is right. To many coincidences to not let the writers be affected by Serling and his genius. I commend you on seeing that from the start.

  116. Max, yes, I do believe the writers were heavily influenced by Rod Serling and his programs. I think that is what made the show so appealing, the unknown, the questions.

  117. Sorry to find this site to late. I was invested into "Lost" for six years and ate up every show. All I want to say is that we,as viewers should have the right to demand a re-do of the finale from ABC. We should have the right to find a more truthful completion to a story that needs an ending more consistant with the six seasons of "Lost." Thank you for the opportunity to express my thought.

  118. Don't worry about a thing. The ending was spectacular. All the characters were dead and were in a living Hell until they all finally gave up on life and were escorted to the bright light of Lucifer's morning star where they will spend an eternity watching reruns of Lost.

"Resembles", Hell. I'm going to cal it what it is: A RIP-OFF. A FUCKING RIP-OFF. A SHAMELESS RIP-OFF.

That TZ episode "resembles" the Mahabharata story about Yudhisthir the way Vanilla Ice's "Ice,Ice, Baby" "resembles" David Bowie/Queen's "Under Pressure".

  125. I have the perfect reboot script.
The following is from Screenrant.com and the possible reboot of LOST.
Karey Burke, President of ABC Entertainment, has claimed to be interested in the possibility of a Lost reboot, but has yet to discuss such a project with the show's former creative heads. Premiering in 2004 to much fanfare, Lost was created by J. J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof and Jeffrey Lieber and ran for six seasons, telling the story of a group of plane crash survivors who discover that their new island home is far from a tropical paradise. Featuring an array of characters that immediately found their way into viewers' hearts, Lost earned a sizeable fan base but would also attract criticism for overly complex storylines and a finale episode that failed to satisfy many.
