Lost Update: Mother

Lost Update - Season Six - 05/11/2010

Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Mother, do you think they'll like this song?
Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls?
Ooh ah, Mother, should I build the wall?

Mother, should I run for president?
Mother, should I trust the government?
Mother, will they put me in the firing line?
Ooh ah, Is it just a waste of time.

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry.
Mama's gonna make all of your nightmares come true,
Mama's gonna put all of her fears into you,
Mama's gonna keep you right here, under her wing.
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing,
Mama's gonna keep baby cozy and warm.
Oooh babe, Oooh babe, Oooh babe,
Of course Mama's gonna help build the wall.

Mother, do you think she's good enough, for me?
Mother, do you think she's dangerous, to me?
Mother, will she tear your little boy apart?
Ooh ah, Mother, will she break my heart?

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry.
Mama's going to check out all your girlfriends for you,
Mama won't let anyone dirty get through,
Mama's gonna wait up until you get in.
Mama will always find out where you've been,
Mama's gonna keep baby healthy and clean.
Oooh babe, Oooh babe, Oooh babe,
You'll always be baby to me.

Mother, did it need to be so high?

Pink Floyd's song Mother, is tonight's Lost Update Title. How very odd that just today in my office I was listening to this very song and to my amazement, tonight's episode fits this song and my Lost theory just like another brick in the wall.

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been waiting six years to tell you…..
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated, the Aliens of course.

As promised, ABC Lost delivered tonight's episode with no regular cast members on film. Only Jacob and the Man In Black were familiar characters. We were all witness to not only the birth of Jacob and MIB, but to the island mystique and to the successor process of the island protector.

A story has to begin somewhere, even Lost. It didn't start with a horrific plane crash on a deserted island. It started almost 2000 years ago. With a very pregnant Claudia washing up onshore. She struggles to a fresh water stream where "Conch Cone" woman, (Did you see the conch shells in here hair) helps Claudia give birth to twin boys, Jacob and MIB. Claudia only had one name picked out, Jacob. Jacob wrapped in white cloth, and MIB wrapped in black. Conch woman kills Claudia and assumes the role of mother and protector to Jacob and MIB. (Perhaps significant, only two children born on the island, until Aaron.)

Tonight's episode continues with the mythology of the island, it's secret powers, who the "Others" are, who Jacob and MIB are, how the Smoke Monster came to be, Who Adam and Eve are, what the wheel at the bottom of the well is for, the significance of the wine bottle and the cork, dead people coming to people in wide awake dreams, and everything that happened to our current castaways some 2000 years later. And most importantly, how it always ends. As MIB stated in the season five finale, "They come, fight, they destroy, they corrupt. It always ends the same."

The cycle repeats itself. As if an experiment is being conducted over and over and over again. Hoping for a different outcome, a new set of results. A redeeming quality that may spare the lives of the human race. Using countless thousands of test subjects, from all walks of life, put into bizarre circumstances, using a disaster such as a plane crash as a catalyst to bring humanity together, to work as one, toward a common goal. And when the experiment fails, the test subjects turn on one another, they are all replaced, with a fresh set to start once again. Or as Jacob replied to MIB, "It only ends once. Anything that happens before that, it’s just progress."

Wait a dog gone minute mister Grassy Knoll Institute. Do you mean to tell me that the experiment has been going on for 2000 years? How in the world can that be possible?

Good question. To answer, we need to look at the Holy Bible, in particular to Genesis, to the creation of the universe, the Earth, and humankind. The bible states that God created everything in six days, and on the seventh day, he rested. But we as educated people, realize that the universe is billions of years old, and it took a lot longer than six days for God to create it. Or did it?

The first question you need to ask is, how long exactly is one day to God? Since God always was and always will be, time is irrelevant. Perhaps to God, a day is a billion years. And so it took 6 billion years to create the universe in humankind perspective.

To an alien, perhaps 2000 years is a mere few years time. Just by observing our own solar system and noticing that each planet has it's own length of time for day, some far longer than that on Earth, and some far shorter, months measured in years is in the realm of reality.

To sum up, for 2000 years, countless ships have run aground stranding the survivors on the Lost island. They became test subjects, unwilling participants in an elaborate experiment testing human nature and whether we, (Humanity) are worthy of survival. Candidates were selected and steered toward the path of righteousness. Roadblocks were put in their paths. However, as MIB stated, it always ended the same. Until perhaps this bunch of candidates on the Lost island at present. Does Desmond, Hurley, and Jack have it in them to overcome the roadblocks, or will Lost end with a new set of test subjects, crashing on the island resetting the experiment once again? We'll find out in a few weeks.

Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:

* Jacob and MIB were the first known candidates.
* Jacon and MIB are twins.
* You learn from your parents. Jacob and MIB learned that people were inherently bad, and not to be trusted.
* When Jacob was offered the cup of wine from the bottle and told to drink it, it reminded me of Jesus and the last supper.
* Claudia asked how did you get here. Answered, by accident, just like everyone else.
* MIB's mother comes to him in a dream, jacob cannot see her, tells MIB everything.
* Smoke monster is not MIB. Just took on his appearance.
* If the light goes out in the stream, it goes out everywhere.
* How does putting a wooden wheel in the light guarantee that you can go home.
* Speaking of home, MIB has been wanting to do that for a long time.
* Speaking of MIB staring out at the ocean, John Locke had the same habit. Just saying.
* I miss Juliet and her amazing rack.
* The light in the stream is the life, death, rebirth, and the source of all the power of the island.
* Adam and Eve is MIB and Conch Cone woman.

Sorry to get all medieval on religion and the bible on you there, but an explanation on the perception was necessary to support and explain tonight's episode. Only two more episodes left Lost fans. What do you think?

How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat.,,

    We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom

Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

  2. You got back to formula tonight. You brought your theory to front a nd center showing the inception of the island and how it relates to your theory. Good job. Shocked to see that Rose and Bernard weren't Adam and Eve. And that Smoke monster is an entity, not a human being.

  3. Best. Episode. Ever.
    So far at least.

It's all coming together. Great song choice by the way.

  4. I'm at a loss for words... I am going to sleep on this one. When I wake in the morning I will have some thoughts..

  5. i was also thinking of Kane and Able with Jacob and MIB as well as the Adam and Eve thing. Did it seem for a moment that Jacob was smokey when MIB wakes up and his people were dead? I thought that was going to be a big twist...guess not.

  6. Yea, great lyrics for tonight's update.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Maybe not back to formula, but this episode sheds plenty of light on what is really happening on the island and lends answers to the mythology of the island.

  8. Yes, very good episode last night. And it was very odd that I was listening to Pink Floyd yesterday and the Mother episode appears on Lost. The cartoonish light bulb went off above my head and it was an easy choice.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yea, great episode wasn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I slept for about seven hours. No I didn't think it was a great episode. I think it was a good episode. It would have been a great episode if it aired in season 5, but two episodes before the finale, just gives us more questions with no answers.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes, the entire bible story is in this episode. Creation, Cain and Abel, the devil being cast into the pit of Hell, the people of the world being slain, Jacob taking the cup of eternal life. You name it, it's in there.

    ReplyDelete
  12. What it did was show the cycle that has been repeating for centuries. The same exact experiment, with added variables to affect a certain outcome. When acceptable results occur, the tests will cease.

    ReplyDelete
  13. We know that MIB's mother (well the woman that raised them) is crazy. Jacob has followed his mother's wishes. His mother is a murderer and a nut job. So Jacob can't be good. The light, you would think is a good thing. Maybe the light is the entrance to the gates of heavan. Maybe if you go into the light and you are not supposed to, you will get spit back out.

  14. In the finale Locke is playing a guitar around a fire and singing with the castaways. What do you make of that? How can everything that is going on at this point, lead to that.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes I understand but did it bring a means to an end? Are we just being lead in circles. Are we the ones lost? Is there no end or point to this story?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just look at history. Empires rise, empires crumble. Sooner or later an empire will build a Utopian world. Perhaps that is what they are waiting on. The right group of candidates to seed the new society.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Remember in Amityville horror movie, when the old woman told Carol-Anne not to go into the light, it will trick you.

    ReplyDelete
  18. How does that fit to the finale. Perfectly my friend. Please follow the below link, it was posted back in 2005, it is the scenario of the series finale. I state that the audience sees the castaways around a camp fire, ....

    Series Finale Scenario For Lost

  19. I'm starting to rethink the mother being a nut. That was according to MIB. She is a murderer but possibly for the greater good. She is protecting the light which cannot go out.

I am sticking to my theory that according to Greek myth she was a god of some kind and that cup may have been ambrosia because afterwards Jacob became like her.

I had mentioned in another reply that Apollo (the candy bar
the show seems to be determined to stick in our face) was a god who was born on the island of Delos which was a floating island and later was chained beneath the sea. The island itself was formerly a female god or half-god.

I think the "men" who were deemed bad by Jacob's fake mom were aliens because how would they know how to manipulate time.

The light might intensify waht is already is in your heart good or bad. It is a place of judgement.

    Anywho that's my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sheep or Comfortably Numb better expresses how i feel.

    ReplyDelete
  21. More mortar for the bricks?

In my humble opinion it is the aliens who are lost.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Walt had special powers about him. Why couldn't he be a candidate? Or was he before leaving. He was about the same age as Jacob and MIB when they were kids last night.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lost Believer5/12/2010 8:19 AM

How do you know its been going on for 2000 years. That would infer that Jacob is Christ and the MIB is Satan. Why did it have to be 2000 years, and not 200 years. or 300.

I was reading all your season finales and came across your season 3 finale. In your comments you state

    LOTGK – Posted 5/28/2007
OK, here is the spoiler I’m not sure I should reveal but here goes anyway. The person in the casket is none other than John Locke. Murdered by… Can’t say any more here.

Whoa there big fella. Talk about a bombshell. That is more than a spoiler, that is a bonafide dead on statement. How did you know this a year in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  25. indeed i agree with you lost traveler...it's like, don't be upset lotgk but my opinion is that the whole thing about aliens is kinda awkward... why aliens? why not god himself trying to peek some candidates to take them in order to create another manking but this time more just, more kind and so on and so on? that would make more sense than beeing aliens....

    big hugs for all

  26. BTW, the original title of last night's update was going to be "Surrender" by Cheap Trick. Maybe we can use it for the alternate reality Lost castaways. :D

Mother told me, yes, she told me I'd meet girls like you.
She also told me, Stay away, you'll never know what you'll catch.
Well Just the other day I heard of a soldiers falling off some Indonesian junk that's going round.

Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.

Father says, Your mother's right, she's really up on things.
Before we married, Mommy served in the WACS in the Philippines.
Now, I had heard the WACS recruited old maids for the war.
But mommy's neither one of those, I've known her all these years.

Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.

Whatever happened to all this season's losers of the year?
Every time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
When I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch.
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my Kiss record out.

Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.

    We're all alright,
    We're all alright......

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dude, you are completely missing the post and what LOTGK said three years ago. He said that John Locke was the one in the casket and that he was murdered by, and then he stopped. Dude, Locke was murdered by Ben Linus, he was hung, and he was the one in the casket. LOTGK predicted that three years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Damn, now this is going to make me go back through the seasons and read his comments more clearly.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yea, yea, that is the better title than Mother. Better song too. And who's their daddy, and what does he do?

    ReplyDelete
  30. david gilmore5/12/2010 1:50 PM

Yeah "surrender" is a good song, especially when playing it on guitar hero but LOTGK had the right choice with the floyd.

And on a side note, did anyone notice when MIB and Jacobs "mom" is dying, she said something like "thank you cory"??? try to go back and listen if you tivo'd it

    ReplyDelete
  31. If they are in a virtual reality experiment do you think Jack is even a doctor? Sawyer ( which I will name my first born son ) a con? and so on and so on. Also, Jacob and Mib's fake mother stated she made it so they could never hurt eachother. I'm pretty sure Jacob whooped his a#$ more than once in that episode and seemed to be the direct cause of his brothers death. Your theories really do make perfect sense I am just hoping it is not an experiment.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sorry one more thing, can someone please explain the significance of Sayid dying and coming back to life to join flocke and then become good again? Also, if smokey isn't MIB (which I believe he isnt) then why does he have to play by Jacob's rules? Why would flocke see a young Jacob when walking through the forest with Sawyer? Why could Sawyer see him anyways? Stupid awesome t.v. show...

    ReplyDelete
  33. I thought Jacob and MIB couldnt kill each other didnt jacob throw MIB head on the rocks?

    ReplyDelete
  34. No their fake mom did that. Jacob beat him up when they were kids when MIB was trying to leave and once again after he killed his fake mom. Jacob did throw him into the light which was the direct cause of his death or so it seems.

  35. If you take away the supernatural properties of the island and then examine what the foster mother did, she would be certifiable. However, with the introduction of the supernatural and unknown, how she acts is merely the standard operating procedure on the island. People die, come back to life, monsters, time travel, eternal life, shape shifting, and a bag of magic bean stalk beans.

  36. Have a cigar, we have a winner.... :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. Could very well be true. They did take a wrong turn at in Roswell, New Mexico back in 1947 and we all know how that turned out. :D

    ReplyDelete
  38. Of course Walt could be considered a candidate. However, I believe the finale will reveal more than that for Walt.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 2000 is a nice round number don't you think? And the intent was not to infer the biblical connection. Lets just see what happens in the next 3.5 hours of Lost and see if I'm right.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good catch Lost Traveler. Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds the nut. :;

    ReplyDelete
  41. No I mean when jacob trew him in the water and he floated into the light

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jamm, how do you agree with Lost traveler?

However, trust me, I am the last person to be upset about one's opinion and theory concerning Lost. My theory involves aliens and virtual reality. I'm way out there in left field. Way out there. But I chose aliens and virtual reality for several key reasons. I explained this numerous times. Check back a few updates and you will find the answers you seek.

  43. Yes, that was one of my shining moments and nobody really noticed since it was the time frame of moving the blog to Wordpress.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You should do that. Easter eggs and all that junk. :D

    ReplyDelete
  45. Very good questions? Who was Jacob and MIB's father. heaven forbid if it is revealed Claudia was a virgin and an angel came to her (Not in her) in the night and declared that she was with child. :D

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks David, Floyd is always a good choice. And I did not notice the foster mother saying anything more than "Thank you!"

    ReplyDelete
  47. I just watched that part again. I listened really hard. I heard something more than Thank you.
I also heard, Big Boy Did It. Big Boy Did it. :D

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes, I believe Jack is a doctor. My theory is based on everyday people being selected from all walks of life and thrust into a life threatening scenario's to study their actions. Much like humans study other animals. And if you noticed, after the beating, MIB didn't look to injured, yes, there was blood present, but he was in pretty good form.

And what scare the hell out of me is that my theory does make perfect sense. :D

    ReplyDelete
  49. The significance. Sayid is a variable. He is a game changer. A ringer so to speak. When a scenario is going sour, the variables are changed for better or worse to help results. Sayid turning bad could have been a catalyst for the castaways to band together more tightly to overcome the extra burden. when it was seen that said results were going south, Sayid was used again as a variable and changed into a good guy once again. Will this help the castaways? We'll know after watching just 3.5 more hours of Lost.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don't think he was dead going into the light waterfall. Maybe mostly dead, but not dead.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Your alien theory is still alive.
It's is so weird how people get to the island.
What's is smoke monsters true/orginal form??
What will life be without Lost???????

    ReplyDelete
  52. david gilmore5/12/2010 6:34 PM

just hoping we might get a chance to know MIB's real name.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks for the info but it seems all of your answers follow the same theme in that is in an experiment and no other option is offered. Do you have any other theories for the show or are you just sticking to your original guns which I dont have any issues with. Deep down inside I am still holding onto hope that the island is an actual place and that they do have the option of going home. Any guess than as to how long Jack and the gang have been involved in the experiment?

  54. Claudia mother of Remus and Romulus
Claudia mother of Jacob and MiB....

  55. James, if you had been a long time reader of the Grassy Knoll Institute, you would have been subjected to many alternate Lost theories, not just from me, but from the readers as well. Below are just a few of the many theories I have formulated during the past six years.

    The Seinfeld Syndrome
    Don't Fear The Reaper
    Gilligans Island
    Billion Year Old Carbon
    Trapped Again
    I Am An Island
    Lost In The Twilight Zone
    We Didn't Start The Fire
    Bobby Ewing Effect
    Damn Dirty Apes

These are but a few. Go through the archives to find many more.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I was waiting for this to be brought up. But, aren't they the inception of Roman mythology, twins going separate ways. I don't think Claudia was their mother.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yes, my theory is still alive. I will survive.....
How people get to the island. A boat wreck or plane crash is the usual way.
Whats smoky true form, whatever it wants to be.
Sort of like it was after the Twilight Zone went off the air, and the X-Files after 10 seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm guessing Stephen King.
    Just kidding. :D
    Not really....

  61. It is true I just recently stumbled on to this site. Now I feel like maybe I am asking questions that you have already answered. Here goes anyway. Since we saw Jacob born on the island do you also believe that he is hooked up like the rest of them or do you feel that he is one of the government officials or even an alien who is involved in the experiment? If your theory is correct I would have to believe that he is just another test tube baby like the rest of them. At least the writers have presented it that way. Thoughts for all? Love all the music references by the way...

    ReplyDelete
  62. umm... I think you forgot that there were two other people born on the island other that jacob, mib, and aaron. The other two were alex and ethan.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Gerard, if that was for me no i did not forget that the others were born on the island. I just used Jacob as an example to see what lotgks theories were on jacob either being a conductor of the experiment or part of it. Do you believe arron is hooked up like jack and the rest of them or did claire give birth to him while she was still hooked up in the lab? sorry for spelling sending this from my phone...

    ReplyDelete
  64. I agree that it is S.O.P. but what is the source of the supernatural power.
The female "god" that was punished and turned into the island was given power over heaven, earth and hell. That to me sounds like the "light" as explained to the twins
(Gemini?). Maybe Chronos has a hand in this too.

By the way what are the names of the two alien octopods-in-a-tube on "The Simpsons".

    ReplyDelete
  65. Remember the Great Flood when all life was destroyed except in the ark. Noah was kind of a reset like the H-bomb incident.

  66. Comic Book Guy, i get it.

what we will do, it's just that he allows us to do what we will.

  68. So they all have VD and have been driven mad by Syphilis.
Actually that kind of makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Why do you believe that Smokey and MIB are not one and the same?

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think he was just unconscious.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I m not sure but i think their mother was Diana in Roman myth.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Whatever happens fake mama said that at least for MIB it would be worse than death and he is imprisoned on the island.

  73. I guess they didnt have mapquest or GPS back then. Also. i heard there was no A/C on those old spaceships.

  76. What was that other name Bentham? i know he was a famous philosopher as was Locke. Yeah, maybe LOTGK has inside info
otherwise his powers of observation rival Sherlock and Monk.

Maybe we should call him Shmonk or Monlock.

I've been racking my brains about how recent inhabitants, others and Lost-ees, and i'm sure going back to season 1 that there were many issues with pregnant women and their babies not surviving. Apart from Claire and Aaron that is!

I remember Julia, and her rack being brought in by Ben to work on this problem. I wonder why some women can successfully conceive, whilst others can't?

    ReplyDelete
  79. i'm just thinking back to season one with the flashbacks with walt and michael. i haven't watched the episodes in years but i thought i remember walt being capable of seeing things that haven't come yet. also, remember walt getting chased by the polar bear, and in his flashback he gets a toy polar bear from michael when he's about to be separated from him. little things like that. and not to ramble on to much but the fact that the others wanted him so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I think those born on the island were not "conceived" on the island...Jacob and MIB's mother was pregnant as she washed up on shore....Claire was pregnant with Aaron when the plane crashed on the island...I think Danielle Rousseau was pregnant with Alex when she arrived also...I don't think Ethan was born on the island....What I am saying is if the mother is pregnant when they come to the island, well then the baby is fine, but if the baby is conceived after arrival while a inhabitant of the island such as with Sun, then there is trouble that the mother will die.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Update...sorry, please forgive me...per Wikipedia he was born on the island...I'm not sure if he was conceived there.

  83. Lost in Britain5/15/2010 12:49 AM

Morning all (GMT) Lost fan from Britain whose been checking this site for a while now and love the theories posted. Can anyone answer the following that's been bugging me:

    1) at the end of the "mother" episode why was Kate wearing a vest top and then suddenly a green t-shirt?
    2) what did MIB say when Jacob was taking him to "the light"? MIB says "you can't kill me Jacob ............" and then something else I couldn't understand. Jacob says "don't worry brother, I'm not going to kill you" - which keeps in tie with the rules between Jacob & MIB
    3) what language were Claudia and Jacob's mom talking?
    4) was it MIB who came back as Jacob's mother to lead MIB to the others? Did it all start there?
    5) When Claudia was taking twins to the light for the first time she hinted that the others were not the first people to come to the island?
    6) slightly confused with the old "is MIB the smoke monster or is smoke monster taking the shape of MIB?". When Claudia speaks to MIB everything she says links to that of the smoke monster. E.g. he can't kill Jacob, he can't leave the island etc. Did MIB become the smoke monster (if so whose bones are they?) or did the smoke monster pretend to be MIB to trick Jacob?
    7) if the "light" is so pure and special it seems strange that something so "seemingly evil" as the smoke monster would protect it?
Lots of questions I know, how on earth (or maybe not earth) are they going to be answered in the few episodes that are left? Movie on its way?

  84. If they are in a virtual experiment as lotgk has said the entire time then I need to understand more. That would mean everyone that has been on the island for the entire show was either hooked up in the lab or running the experiment correct? Widmore, Farrdays mom, penny, all the people when island was jumping through time, the others, the dharma initiative, etc. Lotgk do you agree with this or did you go on vacation??? That could be the case but that seems like a rather large lab. Aaron is the one that confuses me the most about that theory. Was Claire even pregnant or did the aliens program her to be pregnant on the island? This show is so brilliant. This is the first time in my 29 years that I have watched something for 6 seasons and been more LOST than when I started. I love when people say it is stupid when they have never watched the show. However it does end it has been my emotional connection with the characters that has been keeping me tuned in for all of these years. Lets hope Jack Bauer saves the world one last time as well...

  85. As I typed that it got me thinking about not being able to have a baby concieved on the island. Maybe Lotgk is really onto something. If it really is a virtual reality experiment and they are not really there then of course no babies would be born because virtual reality people dont have sperm or eggs to make babies. That would also make sense why people that were pregnant prior to coming to the island can have babies since they made the babies before being hooked up to the experiment. Damn this whole time I have been trying to disprove Lotgk's theory now I may believe him even more. As Jerry Seinfeld would say, THATS A SHAME...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Was thinking how Kwon was a candidate and that they both died. Maybe its their child thats a candidate since it survives in the side flash.

    ReplyDelete
  87. You may be right like you I haven't ssen those episodes in years. I'm foggy on the whole polar bear thing. I just remember Charlotte examining a polar bear skeleton in where was it, Tunisia and it had a Dharma collar.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Not that's there's anything wrong with that. :D

    ReplyDelete
  89. To be honest, nobody really knows what the light waterfall does or doesn't do. Should we take the word of a lunatic foster mother who murdered Claudia the moment after she gave birth. Remember, just because some one says something, it doesn't make it true. Sort of like Ben Linus. He always lies.

    ReplyDelete
  90. James, good questions. All the players on the island are part of the experiment. Is there a spy amongst the players, perhaps, very possible. And thanks for the music connection props. I was looking for something to make my Lost updates unique. Music lyric tie ins is that hook.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Again, just because they have not shown other people born on the island doesn't mean there weren't.

    ReplyDelete
  92. The question you have to ask is, was Claire really pregnant in the first place. Nothing is confirmed with Lost.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I seriously believe the writers are setting up the viewers with the religious scenario and the ancient Greek, Egyptian, and Roman deities.

    ReplyDelete
  94. BTW, that is why we are all brothers and sisters. Noah's three sons and their wives went to the corners of the world and repopulated the Earth. The religion is based on incest.

    ReplyDelete
  95. And there's the rub. God is also so powerful he can do anything. So, the question is, ask him to make a rock so heavy that he couldn't pick it up. If he does this, then ask him to pick up the rock. If he does, then he didn't make a rock so heavy he couldn't pick up.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Now you're getting it.....

    ReplyDelete
  97. Agreed, MIB wasn't dead when he went into the waterfall.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Paul, that is excellent thinking. After all, who really knows what time frame Jacob is referring to for the replacement. The past, present, and future are all in play here.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Excellent points James. You know, I'm actually starting to believe in my own theory. :D

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Yes, a mini vacation. No net access for several fun filled days. Anyway, yes, all the people you see on the show are all part of the entire experiment. The lab wouldn't really be that large.

Let me give you an example. When you go to sleep at night and dream, perhaps you dream you are at a baseball game, and there are 40,000 people with you there. Those 40,000 people are not in your bedroom with you. They are merely players in your dream.

For Lost, my theory has a group of people all interconnected together, as their thoughts and emotions all blend together. This gives credence to everyone being familiar with each other.

  101. Lost in Britain, here are your answers.
#1 - Because they showed you two different realities of the same event. Kate in white and green.
#2 - He said that the Grassy Knoll Institute's theory was correct. :D
    #3 - Latin. Roman times.
#4 - No, it started long before him.
#5 - Claudia was the birth mother that was murdered by foster mother.
#6 - Perhaps you can call it a possession of the soul. The smoke monster was released and took the form of the body (MIB) that first crossed the barrier of the waterfall.
#7 - Who said the light was the good? Yea right, a crazy woman that murdered Claudia. Can you believe her?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yes, Walt had special powers, on and off the island.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I also remember Juliet and her amazing rack. Sorry, what was your question? :D

    ReplyDelete
  104. His initials are RA, the sun god.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I am not a writer for Lost, not affiliated with ABC, I just have a theory, and I'm sticking with that. For now anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Maybe we should call him Shmonk or Monlock.

You can call me "Correct!" :D

    ReplyDelete
  107. Spiral of course. Old school here.

    ReplyDelete
  108. But did the smoke monster take the persona of MIB, or just his appearance? Has Jacob been dealing with his "brother" all of these years, or some weird smoke monster entity, or both? Also, did anyone else find themselves liking MIB better than Jacob in this episode?

    ReplyDelete
  109. I swear, if ANY of the kids (Aaron, baby Kwon) factor TOO heavily into this after such a long absence, I'll be really disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  110. It seems to me that Eloise, Widmore and Jacob seem way more aware of their predicament than the rest...maybe Desmond now, too. Maybe they've been in the experiment the longest? Or some, or all of them are some kind of avatar guides to the "castaways"?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Lost in Britain5/16/2010 11:32 AM

I agree something doesn't feel quiet right here. It appears that previous scenes weve seen of Jacob and MIB together (e.g. when MIB states he wants to kill Jacob) were AFTER the episode last week. If so this mean that Jacob knows the MIB is the smoke monster??

One thing that also bothers me is when Claudia stated she's sorted it so Jacob & MIB can't hurt each other, hows this possible? LOTGK will state its a condition in the programme set up by the aliens.

On the subject of people on the island not being able to have children, I believe it's the islands way to limit the numbers, it looks like they dont want people on the island.

    ReplyDelete
  112. like the matrix???

    ReplyDelete
  113. I'm starting to think that lost is jacobs game. Mib found the one game on the beach and made up his own rules. Mib stated that maybe one day jacob will find a game and make his own rules.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Glad you had some fun in the sun Lotgk. A friend of mine mentioned that maybe Desmond would venture into the cave that Jacob threw MIB into which in turn released the smoke monster. Would that energy be the same that widmore tested on Desmond??? Desmond seems to be a major wild card in completing the experiment. As to what Matt just mentioned that does make sense that it would be Jacob's game but they showed us that the island and powers that be were in place long before Jacob was born... I do believe that the players brought to the game were Jacob's choice ( since he became protector of the island ) but the rules were cleary set by Jacob and Mib's fake mother. Which makes me believe that someone must have stated the rules to her first and so on and so on. Thoughts for all once again...

    ReplyDelete
  115. TheRiverYeti5/17/2010 11:04 AM

I think the fact that they still can't hurt each other lends itself to the fact that, on some level, Jacob's still dealing with his bro.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I do think VR is more likely.
What's with all the phlosophers names though?

    ReplyDelete
  117. What if he creates another being stronger than himself to pick it up?

    ReplyDelete
  118. I dont know why you say your theory is way out there and only has a small chance of being correct. So far I think it is the most reasonable explanation but then again i cant figure why people watch soap operas

    ReplyDelete
  119. Very good pick up I never saw that.
Speaking of initials who is R.G. on Naomi's bracelet?
    Ricky Gervase?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Are you sure all of this isn't just Locke high on some aboriginal weed while on his walkabout.

    ReplyDelete
  121. or is it true and she was the guardian of the light.

She killed someone but that alone doesn't make her crazy.

Many times throughout history the people that others have regarded as crazy were the ones that changed the world.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Good point, but does that mean that there is
a maternity ward in the spaceships VR lab?

    ReplyDelete
  123. I believe the question was, "When was the first time you saw Julia's rack?".

    ReplyDelete
  124. Maybe that would set up baby Kwon and Aaron as the new Jacob and MIB.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I was wrong, their mother was Sylvia but i think that is greek not roman.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Also, Smokey himself (as fake Locke) stated that he bacame Smokey because of his mother.
Unless he meant his birth mother Claudia.

    ReplyDelete
  127. A2Z, that's exactly what would piss me off.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I like this idea...I'm still slso wondering when and how Jacob realized he could leave the island.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hopefully, that will be explained tonight or on Sunday. Plus about 100 other questions.

    ReplyDelete
  130. That's the thing. on the island, there is a mix of Greek, Roman, Egyptian and other cultures and religions. If Jacob arrived during Roman times, then why are their Egyptian writing and structures on the island. Does it mean that Jacob's step mom was not the first guardian, or perhaps she is so old being alone on the island waiting for a replacement.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Everything else is just a blur.

    ReplyDelete
  132. :D No maternity ward. What the viewers see happening on the island is all virtual reality.

    ReplyDelete
  133. As I said earlier, sometimes the perception of pure and good and glowing golden could be a ruse, a trap to evil.

    ReplyDelete
  134. That's a good as any theory proposed out there right now. :D

    ReplyDelete
  135. Now that would be a twist for the finale wouldn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Thank you.
    And Exactly.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Then he wouldn't be the strongest in the universe.

    ReplyDelete
  138. A sort of constant that everyone is familiar with, to keep the subconscious unawares of the virtual reality.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Or, the step mother lied to them to prevent them from doing harm to each other. after all, Jacob was wailing on his brother and looked like he was hurting him.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Widmore is certainly on to something, perhaps he is searching for some type of neutralizer.

    ReplyDelete
  141. "( since he became protector of the island ) but the rules were cleary set by Jacob and Mib’s fake mother. Which makes me believe that someone must have stated the rules to her first and so on and so on. Thoughts for all once again…"

As in a virtual reality lab where subjects are being monitored and evaluated.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Perhaps Jacob is merely a piece of the game. A king perhaps, and the others are pawns, knights, rooks, and bishops, and queens.
    Check......

    ReplyDelete
  143. There have been several comments about Neo, (Maybe Jacob is the new Neo) but my theory is not predicated on a race of robotic entities that have enslaved humankind and using them as batteries to power themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  144. What we have to understand is that we cannot take the word as fact from a woman who is clearly mad, clearly a murdered, clearly with a hidden agenda. Perhaps she is the female Ben Linus, who always lies.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Which religion? I'm talkin about the Bible.

    ReplyDelete
  146. To some people, virtual reality can only be tolerated for a finite amount of time at which point the subconscious attempts to wake the mind, the body, and perhaps in those flashes of consciousness Desmond, Widmore, and several others have a better understanding what is happening on the island.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I think you will see Walt in the finale, maybe not a major player, but certainly significant. Why else would the writers allow us to see Walt's special powers.

    ReplyDelete
  148. That wasn't a condition of the question.

    ReplyDelete
  149. To be honest, it's really hard to tell when you look at Jacob and MIB and determine who is the Good brother and who is the Evil brother.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I think the aliens may have preceded the religions and cultures and are perhaps the basis for such.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Like in nature often the most attractive is the most dangerous.

    And yes perception is powerful.

One man's garbage is another's gold.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Yes it would piss me off too I'm just saying it's a possibility.

I want to find out about all the characters that have disappeared and the mysterious powers of the island and want endings to story lines.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Please clue me in on these special powers i really do not remeber them.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Another question is if the ash protects people against Smokey then why isnt everyone smothering themselves with it?

    ReplyDelete
  155. TheRiverYeti5/18/2010 8:34 AM

Yeah, they both just kind of seemed "ok"...which isn't thematically that riveting.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Hell, perhaps an alien culture visited our planet thousands of years ago, experimented on primitive man, engineered his DNA and gave him a boost in intelligence. There's your missing link. Aliens.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Lucifer was the most adoring angel in Heaven.
    And look at him now.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Well, there's only 150 minutes left. I don't think we're going to get all the answers.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Walt had special telepathic powers, was able to see and control events around him.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Agreed. I would have it at the ready at all times.

    ReplyDelete
  161. That is why I don't believe one is God and one is Satan. If so, they would be complete opposites.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Isnt it fitting that the loophole apparently was an actual loophole.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Wow I must have been orbiting planet Zatar in the Orion nebula when that was going on.

    ReplyDelete
  164. A little dab will do ya.

    ReplyDelete
  165. It was subtle, but there.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I like this Danzig tune for this one, too...especially the bits about the light..

    Mother
Tell your children not to walk my way
Tell your children not to hear my words
    What they mean
    What they say
    Mother

    Mother
Can you keep them in the dark for life
Can you hide them from the waiting world
    Oh mother

    Father
Gonna take you daughter out tonight
    Gonna show her my world
    Oh father

Not about to see your light
But if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what it's like
    Till you're bleeding

Not about to see your light
And if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what it's

    Mother
Tell your children not to hold my hand
Tell your children not to understand
    Oh mother

    Father
Do you wanna bang heads with me
    Do you wanna feel everything
    Oh father

Not about to see your light
And if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what it's like
    Till you're bleeding

Not about to see your light
And if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what it's
    Yea

Not about to see your light
But if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what it's like
    Till you're bleeding

Not about to see your light
And if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what it's like
    Wo-oh
    Mother
    Yea
