Lost Update - Season V - 02/18/2009

Did you notice anything familiar about how Lost opened tonight? A close up of Jack's eye, him lying in the jungle, in his suit. You, you win the prize. That's how the series began. Jack had made it back. Ready to resume his life on the island and that falls right in line with my own theory.
Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I’ve been waiting a long time to tell you…..
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated, the Aliens of course.
Tonight will be a direct get to the point update. I hope everyone is a fast reader. If not, it's OK, just read slower. Ready.
Ben always lies. When he said he didn't know about the Lamp Post, (Dharma owned) Mrs. Hawkings replied, he's probably lying. And he was.
The key to tonight's episode was when Desmond couldn't believe that the Oceanic Six willingly wanted to return to the island with the aid of Mrs. Hawkings. Desmond was disgusted and blurted out something to this effect; They don't care about us. They're playing a game with us, we're just pieces to them.
As I stated several weeks ago making the comparison of the Xbox 360 video game my son was playing and how after he lost, he merely reset the game and the parameters and began again from the beginning. Exactly what was happening tonight. The castaways are in there own type of video game, a virtual reality experiment.
Let's suppose that you were getting pretty good at a particular video game. You keep playing until you get it right and win. You make sure that you have the same parameters that got you to the top level, such as the correct maps, best guns, ammo, med kits, and partners. If you have the experienced people playing with you, your odds get better to win.
That is why Hawkings said that all six needed to be on that plane, or the outcome would be unpredictable. Like the video game if you have a new player and don't know their personality and game skills.
Also why Jack needed to use Locke as a proxy for his father. He needed to get as close as possible to the previous flight so as to produce the same results. Jack brings his fathers shoes, sort of like selecting the correct map or right ammo.
Flight 316 is the flight they need to be on to get back to the island. That will be key in episodes ahead.
Locke is dead. And next week he's alive. I don't care if the island is moving, or a giant electromagnetic field is below or above the island, or if they are traveling through time, or any other explanation and theory you can think up, (Except one, mine) the fact is John Locke was dead and now he's alive.
Some will say that he died in the past. If he did. Then how was he alive in the future and meet the castaways.
Some will say he died in the future. If he did, then how did he leave the island and go to the mainland and die?
See the paradox here? There can be only one explanation. That's right, virtual reality.
Tidbits From Tonight's Episode:
* Ben tells Jack the story of Doubting Thomas. And how he had to see and touch the wounds of Jesus before he could believe.
* Staying with Jesus, Ben also says that Thomas also was the one who said they should all go with Jesus and die together. See what Ben was telling Jack. Yes, Ben is Jesus and the castaways are his apostles.
* Ben was all bloodied when he called Jack to pick up Locke's body. Methinks he was settling a score with Widmore. Killing Penny perhaps.
* Hey, tonight was yet another plane crash. How will Widmore explain this crash like he did with Oceanic flight 815?
* Jack and Kate do the horizontal.
* Kate tells Jack not to ever ask her about Aaron, Claire's son who she was taking care of.
* And finally, The song title and lyrics tonight are from the rock band Jefferson Starship, Find Your Way Back. Exactly what was unfolding in tonight's episode. Yes I know, god choice.

LURKING ON THE GRASSY KNOLL
Lost has gone deeper than it ever has before. Lost is about to venture into questions of soul. Words like Faith, Life, Death, ressurection are coming into play. How ironic Ben appeared to be praying after Jack came out of the back of the church. Desmond who was studying to be a preist goes to the island because it was his calling. I am starting to think Desmond found Penny for all the wrong reasons. I think he knew who she was before he met her. He knew her father could help him get to the promise land or the island. Isn't it funny Jack refers to the island to his grandfather as "a better place."
ReplyDeleteI had goosebumps at the beginning when Jack opened his eyes. I did recognize it from the first episode.
ReplyDeleteThe plane didn't crash... or at least I don't think it did. My theory is that the plane was flying over just as one of the time shifts occurred and because they belonged on (to) the island they were sucked out of the plane. What baked my noodle though was Jin dressed in Dharma garb and the old VW van was brand new. Have we returned to the seventies? Too bad Jack cut his hair and shaved, he would have fit right in.
And I want to know what happened to Aaron... and why would Sun go without her daughter??!! Unless she figures her return to the island is only temporary. Damn I love this show!
When Locke hung himself Ben is seen kneeling in front of him watching the sacrafice take place. The word faith was used how many different times tonight. Life and Death are the choices our castaways are dealing with Death being the island and Life being off the island.
ReplyDeleteClaire has Aaron. That's who Ben was working for. Jack's father used Locke. I think the island is the portal between life and death. I think he told Locke to move the island because he needed shoes. Jack's biggest regret was that his dad didn't have nice shoes to have in the afterlife. Alot of religions believe whatever you have with you when you are buried or creamated is what you take along. He needed shoes!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, about faith being brought up several times in this episode, I almost used the George Michael song Faith as the title and lyrics. Perhaps it will still be used in a future update, but the Jefferson Starship tune fit absolutely perfectly.

ReplyDeleteYes, religion has been a part of Lost since the get go. Seeing angels, the Mary statues filled with heroin, the church, the paintings, the story of Thomas, the leap of faith. And seriously, last night Ben was likening himself to Christ and referred Jack as apostle Thomas, doubting Thomas.
Ben-
Good points all around. And where did Ben, Sun, Sayid, Sun, and the pilot go? And the answer, they are on the island, but in another time line. It will take a few jumps for them to sync up with the rest of the castaways just as Jin did.
Concerning Jin, yes, the van was new, he was sporting Dharma garb, but he knew Jack, Hurley and Kate. This is why my theory is virtual reality.
About Sun's daughter. Perhaps she is afraid of what Juliet told her before she gave birth. That no child or mother born on the island survived.

Desmond is the wild card. I stated this several years ago. He figured out what was happening to him with the flashes of the future he saw. He will now come full circle.
Claire has Aaron? I would think that Claire's mother had Aaron. I believe Claire is still on the island. In fact, they all are. In fact, none of them ever left. They are in a lab resting in a state of virtual reality.
I am still not hooked on the virtual reality theory but here is a little support for the cause. The more that the island "flashes" the closer everyone comes to death. Some die earlier and some later. It all starts with a nose bleed. Perhaps each flash is equivalent to a "reset". Maybe everyone gets a certain amount of "lives" just like a video game. When they run out of "lives" they die and are removed from the game. I can't believe that I just wrote that considering that is disagree with the theory. I guess that I agree a little.
ReplyDeleteMy theory (for what it's worth): The Multiverse theory. They keep bumping into themselves throughout time. Locke noticed the beam of light from the hatch and knew that he was about to bump into himself so he kept moving. Somehow they are all able to cross over into multiple dimensions. The "Others" were taking the children of Oceanic 815 to transport them back in time, have them adapt to the community, and add to their numbers. Jin has always been on the island. Same with Christian, Jack and all of the rest. Don't be surprised if we bump into a full grown Aaron this season on the island. Lastly, babies cannot be born on the island because there is no way for them to exist in that one universe. Everyone exists in multiple universes and the island transcends that. Anyway, good stuff. Keep it up.

Good stuff. But remember, Claire gave birth to Aaron on the island.
I'm still trying to soak season five in. It's like this season is all about time travel and nothing else. Richard and the others are just forgotten. And Hanso, never a mention of them anymore. Everthing is about time travel and religion. I see a twist in the arc the next several weeks.
ReplyDeleteGood point about Claire's baby but the conception happened off of the island so pregnant Claire exists in multiple universes. Anyone impregnated on the island only exists in the one universe. There are many Aaron's running around on the island. You can bet on it.

ReplyDeleteIf there are split universe's, then you are talking about Back To the Future, Part Two. When Biff, or Ben goes back to the past and changes the future. Those caught in the past are left to roam and fend for themselves.
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong but wasn't Locke's both legs injured. He was in a wheelchair when he came on the island. So why the connection to just the one leg geting hurt all the time. Thanks.

BTW, Jack is a nick name for John. So is it John Locke or Jack Sheppard the passage is referring to? Just saying.

ReplyDeleteDuring the time shifts all that were on the Island (in the water by the island) are still shifting (or the Island is shifting around them) either way they are together. As they time shifts some of them may be on the Island at two points in their life. For example, Sawyer sees the birth of Aaron. This means that Sawyer is on the Island at two points in his life at the same time. When this happens, the nose bleeds start. I have not tracked exactly when each nose bleed/death occurs. We know that they have all been on the Island before, with the exception of Locke, et al. and Faraday. Miles will be next to die since he was born on the Island...he is the son of the Dr. from the orientation films...who for the life of me I cannot remember. The more frequent you exist in multiples the more severe you get the nose bleeds increasing to death.
Also, I will guarantee that we see a lot more of the guy that tells Jack that he is sorry for the loss of his friend while in line at the airport.

ReplyDeleteI instantly wondered about Ben and Charles W. scuffling, but Ben appeared to 'flinch' ever so slightly upon seeing Sayid on the flight. Perhaps not flinching per se, but he reacted to seeing him, for sure.
Loved Locke's suicide note as well.
How did Hurley find out where/when to go as well. Has that been addressed?
Widmore is responsible for Sayid, Hurley, and the Guy on the plane that said to jack that he is sorry for his loss. Widmore and Ben are both trying to bring their daughters back. Ben killed Penny and Widmore's hired thug Killed Ben's daughter. In the upcoming weeks you will see. Ben didn't worry about his daughter being shot because he knew he could go back and save her. His efforts now to get back to the island revovle around his daughters life.
ReplyDeleteIm thinking the island is the garden of eden and the crew are fallen angels, ben is satan trying to take eden. The souls of bens accomplices are in the bodies of the crew who have no idea of this. In order to hide eden from the fallen angels God has hidden it out of time to make it difficult to find.

ReplyDeleteLOTGK i like the theories you have but i think its a combination of both Aliens and Twilight Zone. My theroy is that it is a virtual reality simulation operated by the US government. In the twilight zone more often than not what appears to be alien is actually the US government (ie the Invaders ep). It could be a social experiment to test the limits of human behaviour, i mean just look at how much the characters have changed since the start, but then again the Alien theroy has held up this far so it cant be to far off the mark. but it does seem like a bit of an anti-climax if it was aliens though.

ReplyDeletebefore the first crash,everyone's lives are in turmoil,especially there relationships (jack's marriage is over,kate being arrested,sun is cheating),but on the island they find peace and are happy.and maybe the others stealing babies is actually a good thing,they can protect them better.

Then the flashes of light everyone sees before they jump time is the island exceeding the speed of light. But didn't Einstein claim that is impossible. Green Hood wants to know.
